Series Thread: Rangers Travel to Chicago For Three Games With the White Sox August 27-29

The Rangers finally have a good chance to win a series on the road, thanks to being able to play the lowly White Sox.

There is a good chance we will see Jack Leiter pitch Wednesday's game.

We had some good discussion on the last thread about what we should do with the team in the offseason. Let's continue that on this thread.

I saw where the Red Sox activated Rich Hill today. That got me to thinking about his longevity as a pitcher. That brought Jamie Moyer to mind.bec cause he was around, seemingly forever as well. I checked and they had several years of overlap and yet still one of them has been pitching since 1986, thirty-nine seasons. That is, since Bobby Witt, Jose Guzman, Edwin Correa, and Pete Incaviglia were rookies. That was Bobby Valentine's first full season as the Rangers' manager.

I do think we need one more bat but how to fill and spend money is always a factor.
I wanted Vlad before the break but now his price has gone up. Sure it is for Santander
A ways back I wanted Buxton despite injury issues but MINN paid him
Wanted Turner on the cheap but that did not happen

Ideally we get a good bat that can play 1B or CF

One of the hardest things for some fans to understand is that when youi can upgrade from okay to good or better, you go for it.

Then there are some who never understand that there is a budget.

99 HRs so far the last 3 years and about a 243 batting average. Strikes out about once in every 5 ABs which is pretty decent for a HR hitter. He is making around 11.7 mill this year. I would be willing more so if he could play 1st.

White Sox are terrible. Just awful. They have lost 18 of last 19 at home. Just got swept 4 games by Detroit.

But...I am going to make a bold prediction:

White Sox take 2 of 3 vs. Rangers and win only their 5th series of the season.

And it helps our chances of getting a top 5 pick so there's your silver lining.

I am still not sure how much money we will have to spend if we adequately staff the bullpen. Once we find out exactly who all is in this class of free agents and some estimates are made about how much they will get paid, then we can get a better idea.

Finding money for 4 relievers may only leave a small amount. That is especially true if Eovaldi exercises his option. Trading Lowe and/or Adolis could improve that somewhat.

This old man doesn’t want him back either. 10 million is to much for what he gives you.

Lowe is not very good IMO stretching for the ball. Guess he can improve

I have never read that about Foscue.

I remember when they tried Joey Gallo at 1B during the middle of the season. He looked great over there from the start. I imagine a lot of guys can learn to play 1B.
