He signed a 4-year deal back in 2012. He's got 1 year left, meaning Oakland likely would have traded him next season anyway.

It's like 10.5 mill for next year but he is arbitration eligible for a couple years after that. This could turn out good for Boston in the long run as they get Cespedes and bet they resign Lester. Oakland will have a solid starting rotation the rest of this year.
