Big discussions going on about the preferences that fans/followers are facing with respect to either getting the next shiny QB or making a play-off push. Given these choices and ONLY these choices, which would you prefer to have happen this year?

1. Maintain the current arch towards having that very high draft selection and using it to get the top guy or one of the other two, while publicly rooting for wins and privately rooting for losses.

2. Make that play-off push, in a putrid division that also puts them out of the top three QB sweepstakes and potentially set back until the 2022 draft to get their guy.

SN: I personally believe that they already have their guy.

All is well in my neck of the wood, thanks for asking Cali! How are things with you and yours? I hope that all is good where you are too! When did you come back to the board? I missed the hell out of everyone who either permanently left or absented themselves for long periods of time. Anyway, I am looking forward to answers to this question, it is a very hot topic over here. Probably because the division is so, (in my best Barkley) turrible!

Number one but here is my thing . We need to be winning or losing games with Haskins at qb , I don’t need to see what Rex has I know what Allen is .

If Haskins is EJ Manuel then let’s see it but being a 6 win playoff team is an embarrassment and my standard for a playoff team should be at least have a winning record . Now some are proud if their low , bitch like standard and they can have it

I don’t agree with tanking , win as much as you can , but let’s not be urine and pretend we are wine

I’m the same as Dad with this being the only difference. DH and that ship has sailed imo. QB of the future likely isn’t on the roster. Kyle is our QB2 of the future. We should get a QB in rounds 2 or 3 and develop him. Get a bridge QB while they learn. Matt Ryan is my number 1 choice.

And I give RR a huge pass cuz of the cancer but am annoyed with his pressers and mixed messinging. Wish he’d say nothing rather than share some of his thoughts that are non sensical and not backed by his actions on the field.

Theres been exactly 1 top 5 or first QB taken quarterback thats won a Super Bowl since the 2000 draft . Only 4 out of 30 have even made a SB. You don't tank in the NFL because taking a QB early doesn't mean shit other than you probably wasted a draft pick

Play as many young players as possible, to see who is going to be around for the long haul.

Give Allen two more games, so both he and Haskins get 4, and decide who you want to see for the rest of the season.

Figure out if any of the people they have on the oline are worth keeping, and settle on a specific depth chart.

Trade away anybody that gets the WFT good draft picks.

Spend the rest of the season mastering a new skill on offense and defense every week - i.e. “how to not ever get beat deep while handing off a wr to a safety,” (zone pass coverage 101), or “2 bonafide zone/man coverage beaters” (plays that always beat zone or man coverage). These are known strategies.

Just wanna see progress.

LOVE this take! And completely on board with this approach. If you remember I speculated that since we had no Off season RR might be using this approach toward the QB sitch. The hiccup was how the benching was handled. Hopefully we haven’t burned that bridge, but sadly I think we might have with the unprofessional leaks and typical Skins smear campaigns. Thing is, I fully believe the leaks are legit and benching was the right call, just hated how we handled it.

Of course the benching was the right call. I don't see RR benching Allen unless he really flops. His 1st full game last week had its up and downs but that last comeback drive showed me something about the kid. He doent get rattled after turnovers.

First of all, hello my friend and I'm happy to hear that all is well with you and yours!

What I'm hoping will happen is a nuclear explosion with the Washington Football Team that will hurt nobody. Now that's not asking for too much is it?

What I think will happen is we won't win enough games to win the NFC East but we will win enough games to take us out of the hunt for a top QB in the next draft.

Then, if I'm fortunate enough to live as long as Methuselah, who lived to be 969 years old, I MIGHT get to see our team make another Super Bowl appearance.

You play to win with the current roster. That was the goal at the beginning of the season, and should remain the goal of every individual on the team. It is called professionalism. You do your job. Players play and coaches coach...to the best of their abilities.

From a GM perspective, it isn't about today or tomorrow. It is about long term sustainability. Going out today and buying a guy that may get you one or two more wins is foolish when that only gets you to 6 or 7 wins, if we are lucky.

My personal perspective is we never should have benched DH. It is honestly one of the most perplexing decisions I have EVER seen. He may have been a good QB here. I think you are completely wrong about him being our QB though. I believe bridges have been burned and his career here is done.

As for going out and getting a guy that may help us squeak into the playoffs, while harming future years, I think it is an idea that rivals the stupidity behind benching DH. We are not a good football team. Our OL is poor, we have no run game, and our pass back seven on defense allow far too many big plays. We are not a playoff team, even if we win this division, which is on track for being a record setting division. I think we could easily see a 6 win team win the NFC EAST. That team would have no prayer in the playoffs.

Is the soon to be 36 yr old Ryan coming to DC ?

I am not sure you want to pay 52 mil to a stop gap qb and add CDC’s 10 mil hit to the cap

He gets 23 mil next year and 28 mil the following year . Extending him means That 52 mil gets guaranteed. Over the life of the new contract putting him potentially in the 40’s

A guy who passes for 314 yds and no turnovers vs the ravens gets benched for Rex who has lost 9 straight games and blows the winless giants game was the right move ? How ? He hasn’t even set us up to make a charge toward the division.

Lol I'm on multiple Falcons boards and like half our fans HATE Matt Ryan and want to "tank" for a QB. Its hysterical. I'm like " so you want to tank in order to draft a QB who has like a 1% chance to even be as good as the guy we've already got who you think sucks ??"

Its preposterous. Persobally if im Washington ( or really any team in the running for a top 5 pick right now ) and I get a high pick in trading back and getting 3 or 4 picks for it.

If you go 3-13 its because you've got a LOT of holes. Build your team around the QB then when you've got a good core you draft your franchise QB.

Then you're giving him a chance to win when he's still on his rookie deal and because he's cheap you can build around him

Taking a QB when the rest of your team isn't ready to win accomplishes 2 things. First you destroy your QBs confidence with loss after loss and 2nd you have no clue if he's actually any good or not so now you've got to decide whether to pay him once his rookie deal is up based off poor info

Like do we really know Darnold sucks ? I sure don't. Hes had no real shot to be on a team with a competitive roster. What do you do if you're the Jets? Same with Haskins and Jones .

Personally I love what KC did. Build , build , build for 4 or 5 years then when you see your guy you do whatever it takes to go get him
