With the Panthers unloading McCaffery and Anderson, the deadline season is open. It seems that most of the major names being bandied about are either edge rushers, wide receivers and running backs.

Do you have any thoughts about who your favorite team might trade away or try to obtain?

A couple of thoughts. Teams with a serious opportunity for the Super Bowl would be trying to obtain a difference maker, while teams that are out-of-the-running, might be willing to unload assets for draft choices. Furthermore, teams are unlikely to trade within their conference or division. So that makes trades even harder to pull off.

My thought on the Bills is that they should seek to trade for an offensive lineman. The team is woefully shallow in that area and even if the current starters are able to kick their games up a notch, another versatile lineman would be beneficial.

The Vikings could use a TE or interior DL help, but this team very rarely makes significant deals at the deadline.

I'm surprised the Packers haven't pulled off a trade for a WR... Claypool? Jeudy? DJ Moore? They've got to be in the middle of pulling off one, right?

Also, Seattle would be happy to trade Denver a pick back for Chubb... :D

Hoping the Eagles can acquire some pass rush, namely Burns from the Panthers.

Problem is nobody is more than two games out of a playoff spot, and with ten or eleven games to go it's hard to give up on the season.

Hell, even the Panthers are only one game out of the division lead.

Houston's probably a seller, but I'm a little surprised Jville was willing to ship Robinson. I don't think Pittsburgh or Denver are quite willing to give up yet. Lions maybe.

Eagles trading for Quinn from the Bears.

Quinn_trade

Eagles fans happy with the move? Had strong year last year... this year only 1 sack.

Against the Packers he was not much of a factor in week 2 this year.
Quinn's play has been rather tame this season, but if anyone caught this last game against Pats, he played very well. The Eagles should be able to utilize his talents much better.

They have expressed interest in AJ Green

Like it. Eagles lost Derek Barnett earlier this year. He’s been an underperformer but at least a body for the rotation. Quinn replaces that loss with a better player. Didn’t cost much and yet with limited snaps could be very productive.

Quinn for a 4th is a smart move for the Eagles, who were looking for more DE pass rushing depth after Derek Barnett was lost for the season, and reportedly the Bears are eating most of his contract.

Quinn is probably on the downside, but he did have 18 sacks last year in an All-Pro season, so he is certainly capable of doing some things if he gets properly motivated, especially as part of what is a deep overall DL in Philly. The Eagles usually play some combination of Josh Sweat, Fletcher Cox, Jordan Davis, Javon Hargrave and Brandon Graham right now, with Haason Reddick also sliding into a pass rushing role when not playing OLB in an even front. So Quinn will give them another end to play on the same side as Sweat again, and the two will make a great duo.

I've been reading conflicting reports that the Bears will eat most of his salary for the remaining contract (thru '24) or just this year only. Guess we'll have to wait until it becomes official.

I'm hoping the Patriots can trade for a new offense and defense.

A new special teams would be great too if they can swing it.

seems like a perfect place for this, drafting is still cool, salary for 4 years is workable.

You've heard the age-old saying that the "rich get richer" and, at this point, Dan Quinn and the Dallas Cowboys defense is the equivalent of watching Scrooge McDuck swim around in his money bin. Only one day after trading for veteran run-stopper Johnathan Hankins, the club activated rookie fifth-round pick Damone Clark to the active roster.
Clark began his rookie offseason with the Cowboys on the non-football injury (NFI) list after undergoing spinal fusion surgery in March - to repair an issue discovered at the 2022 NFL Combine by, guess who? The very same Cowboys who added him to their roster in April with the 176th-overall selection.
He'll join a linebacker room that is overflowing with talent, but will likely have to first acclimate to professional game speed and impact via special teams, in the capable hands of John "Bones" Fassel.
When he's ready to be unleashed for defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, it'll be interesting to see how the equation is solved, considering the prowess of Micah Parsons, the steady play of four-time Pro Bowl linebacker Anthony Barr and the improved impact of Leighton Vander Esch.
The three have made it nearly impossible for Clark's former LSU teammate Jabril Cox to carve his way into the rotation, but the former made a name for himself in the collegiate ranks by being one of the best run-stopping LBs in the country.

Thanks,
Fighting for 2nd Place
