First in-division series.

Predictions?

My bold one for the series:

Pedro breaks out in a big way.

Don't think anything special is going to happen, but I think the Bucs have the pitching advantage 2 out 3, and Lance Berkman is on the DL.

I'd take a 3-9, with a few walks and singles, this weekend for Pedro.

Since I think the Cardinals are not nearly as good as their record would indicate, I see us taking 2 and possibly sweeping them. I think Walker continues his hot hitting of late, and I think one other player will step it up, however I don't think it will be Pedro, more than likely it will be Barmes, but possibly even Barajas.

My MLB.tv feed is blacked out again.

You have to be kidding me. I live in Tucson, I'm not in the Pittsburgh viewing area. This is ridiculous. What a waste of money this package has been...

I upgraded to Premium.

Now I'm watching.

Oh yeah!

Nice double play there by Barmes.

I'll take an inside-the-park home run to lead off the game. :)

Oh hey look, it's AJ Burnett.

Good outing so far, first three batters notwithstanding. :thumb:

Why are we trying to run on Molina? He's throwing guys out at a 75% rate right now!

Raise the Jolly Roger!

What a way to start off by Burnett. Looks like he's in the rotation to stay. Good timing with the Karstens injury.

Nice to see Alvarez get the base hit, and RBI. Any confidence for him couldn't hurt!

Great start by Burnett and nice game for Alvarez. Both were needed and both came through. Hopefully, this will be the start of something big.

Man..... I hate to post this following a TWO-HIT GAME by Pedro Alvarez..... but it seems worthy of note:

Due to my location, I see few games either live or on TV. So..... most of my info comes from MLB.com's Gameday. I just reviewed both their video clips and their pitch-by-pitch coverage of last night's 2-0 win.

I was dismayed to discover that BOTH of Pedro's hits came on change-ups. Since his previous two hits (both home runs) also came on change-ups, we're faced with the rather startling conclusion that Alvarez remains HITLESS on both breaking balls and fastballs. In my opinion, that seems cause for serious concern.

I think Jose is starting to come out of his funk a little bit. He's not red hot, but he's starting to get some hits. We need him to be setting the table for McCutchen on a regular basis.

Is it just me, or does Pedro's defense look much improved?
