Ryan Garcia is having a fine game so far for Round Rock. He just struck out the side in the 5th and only one of the pitches was thrown harder than 91.1 MPH.

Why was Eovaldi at 98 pitches even coming back out for another inning. And after the 1st batter gets a hit still in there. This is what Washington would do and still have to use a reliever that could have been used much sooner.
From Shawn McFarland:

Cody Bradford threw a season-high 104 pitches on Thursday.

Andrew Heaney threw 97 pitches (T-2nd most this season) yesterday.

Nathan Eovaldi threw 103 pitches (T-2nd most this season) tonight.

The Rangers are trying to get the most out of their starters.

Sometimes it works. Bradford didn't allow a run in his last four innings.

Other times it doesn't. Heaney recorded one out and gave up a three-run home run in his final inning yesterday. Eovaldi loaded the bases and didn't record an out in his tonight.

Foscue was a triple shy of the cycle in his 4 hit night. He was also hit by a pitch.

From Shawn McFarland:

So what happened in the eighth inning?

Bochy: “[Eovaldi] is our guy, he’s our ace. He assured us, ‘I couldn’t feel better.’”

Eovaldi: “I’ve got to do a better job of getting us out of that situation, especially when Boch trusts me to be out there.”

I asked Tepid about what he makes of Ryan Garcia's chances of pitching for the Rangera at some point in 2025. He amd Jon Moore both replied. The first response below is from Tepid and the second one from John Moore.

"Listen, we gotta start talkin’ about Ryan Garcia. It’s been a long journey and he’s really caught fire in the second half. Nothing has been easy for him and he doesn’t look the part of an MLB starter. Listed at 6’0” 180lbs with a 90-91mph FB, he uses his stuff like a crafty vet."

"Everyone forgets that he was the PAC 12 pitcher of the year when he was drafted.
His last year at UCLA his ERA was below 2. This is a former second round pick. Cody Bradford doesn’t throw harder than 90-91. Dunning doesn’t either."

Rangers are 2 1/2 games out of last place.
Seattle with the best team ERA in baseball is listed as only having a 21% chance to make the playoffs.

From Shawn McFarland:

Injury updates from Bruce Bochy today:

- Jacob deGrom will make a rehab start next, date still TBD, per Bochy. Number of outings also still TBD.

- Max Scherzer threw a bullpen today. He will pitch again on Wednesday — in some capacity — possibly a rehab start or live BP.

Here we are with just a few weeks left in the season and yet we're running out the line-up we started the season with (exception of Smith) and this season is/has been about next season for some time now. Where are the younger players who, if nothing else, get some exposure to what life in the bigs is all about.........And I'm a huge Bochy fan, but I sure as hell don't see the point to this.

I’m not a big fan of Bochy. He continually runs the same lineup out there every game. Duran comes up and his first game he gets 2 hits. Haven’t seen him since. CY has done absolutely nothing to help this team. You ask him about the teams struggles and his reply is this is a championship lineup. Trading for Grossman was stupid. They call younger players and they do nothing but sit on the bench.

Star of that game was Garabito.
Yup gutty outing but Adolis is moving better.
Have to think the fate of the Rangers rest on him
Jung and him huge homers
Garcia is under contract
I expect him back next year

Bochy has been charged to win games. CY will have to declare season over.
My guess is Sept 1 we start playing the young guys
