Max Scherzer threw 25 pitches today in a bullpen session and said he will try for 40 on Sunday. He also said he can still compete at a high level and sounds like a guy who plans to return in 2025.

Gray and deGrom threw live bullpen today. Bochy thinks Gray will not need a rehab assignment. Bochy plans to let Gray pitch a game in relief in the Pirates series and let that serve as his rehab.

Why was Eovaldi at 98 pitches even coming back out for another inning. And after the 1st batter gets a hit still in there. This is what Washington would do and still have to use a reliever that could have been used much sooner.

Very puzzling move by Bochy. 98 pitches is plenty enough for Nate. Didn't have a good feeling bringing him back in the 8th
