Can't keep 10 WRs so BB will find some way to keep the best even if they have to pay them to be on the IR. From being a point of weakness back in March, it seems to be a very solid position for Brady to work with. Bill could keep 6 on the 53 man roster as long as that 6th guy can play ST.

WIDE RECEIVERS

KEEPERS
Julian Edelman Agreed
N’Keal Harry We Better After Where We Took Him
Phillip Dorsett I guess You Gotta Have Someone
Demaryius Thomas Not Sure
Braxton Berrios Has Proven Nothing

SPECIAL TEAMS
Matthew Slater Beyond Question
Ryan Davis Ummm Okay

PRACTICE SQUAD
Jakobi Meyers OKay
Xavier Ubosi Okay

CUTS OR STASHED ON IR
Maurice Harris
Damoun Patterson
Dontrelle Inman

I think Inman gets an active roster spot. Big kid, great hands, runs routes really well

Tom E. Curran was funny last night. He said that the roster today could be totally different come July. Historically, BB has always made multiple moves in later May and June. Wasn't so much what he was saying as the way he said it.

It's been that way for years and I don't get why roster bubble free agents sign here... There's such a track record of bringing guys in, then dumping them. I guess they have confidence that they will be a flourish-er and not a flounder-er..

The lure of a team that historically signs UDFA to active roster is hard to pass on - and they get good exposure when they are linked to Patriots. Guys like Ubosi know that even after being cut, if they clear waivers they could get a call back to the Pats for practice squad.

I meant experienced free agents and not UDFs. No UDF would be on the bubble until they show something in practice.

Jakobi Meyers Below Edelman and Dorsett, another tier of outside receivers consists of Meyers, N’Keal Harry, Dontrelle Inman and Damoun Patterson. Harry, a 2019 first-round pick, is a lock to make the roster. But Meyers looked best this week out of the rest of the pack. He also showed more than fellow undrafted rookie receivers Ryan Davis and Gunner Olszewski. Meyers even got some time with Brady while the rest of the Patriots participated in punt drills Thursday. That’s a nice step for a UDFA receiver.

"Jakobi Meyers is someone worth keeping an eye on this summer. He got some one-on-one time with Nick Caserio before Day 1, and he was with Harry when Harry, McDaniels, Brady and Hoyer worked on refining their timing on comeback routes. Interesting to see an undrafted rookie and a first-round pick getting some tutoring side-by-side."

Could be a lot of truth in that.
There have been a bunch of top end vets that have come to Foxborough only to flame out.
Exactly they come in thinking that what worked for them should work in Foxborough and are less apt to be coach able because of it. Rookies on the other hand are bright eyed sponges

Patriots used to be the only NFL team where you didn't have to use the flash on your camera when taking a photo of their receivers. Now, no Gronk, no Hogan and no Edelman in camp so everyone change your camera settings.

It's way too early, Rookie WR camp standouts are a dime a dozen. Then they get cut, signed by another team and do nothing. Sometimes it's nothing more than they are in peak shape as others are ramping up.

And here's another day.....

--The 1-on-1 work between the cornerbacks and wide receivers early in practice looked like it would be a bloodbath in favor of the defense when Duke Dawson blanketed Berrios, Williams shadowed Harry and D’Angelo Ross hung with Harris on the first three reps. But thing got more competitive and balanced from there, with Meyers beating Jason McCourty for a completion. Inman, who had by far his best practice of the summer, beat Keion Crossen. Meyers, who continues to impress, got the better of J.C. Jackson.
