7 receptions?????

Look, that's fine but you have to connect with Brady and he's a long way from doing that except on the most rudimentary routes. Connecting with the backups on simple routes is meaningless. Now, I'm not saying he won't grow, but he better grow or he won't be one of Brady's targets.

The Patriots wide receiver caught 5-of-5 passes from Brady for 41 yards. It was clear that anytime Brady was in a bind, during his short three-drive performance, he went to Dorsett, the only receiver to catch a pass from Brady on Thursday.

1st game he has been challenged.
1st game Brady has been playing.
Rough start but not all on Jakobi...

I'm not saying he isn't a talent. I'm just saying he has a long way to go and no one knows right now if he can do it.

7 receptions?????
Early on I mentioned caution regarding Meyers and gave the example of Zach Sudfeld... Last night that comparison seemed spot on.... and we've seen that play out many times through the years. Certain players can develop a great chemistry with the back up QB and become his binky. They look great while being the binky against inferior competition, but their skills don't translate to the starting QB against 1st stringers.

I'm not predicting failure for Meyers but there are reasons guys like Sudfeld and Bam Childress shine one moment and are dropped the next.

I'll admit I started taking the bait on Meyers instead of just waiting to see.

I think last night was all about TB12 having a working knowledge with Dorsett. Nothing more, nothing less. Meyers is a rookie and if I am correct an undrafted rookie FA. TB12 doesn't want to look bad so he too goes to his comfort zone.

IMO last night says more about Brady than Meyers

Yes, undrafted.

Dorsett, the only receiver to catch a pass from Brady on Thursday.

And not 1 single yard after a catch.

He catches a ball and drops like a rock.

He's a possession receiver and nothing more.

I think last night was Brady making sure Dorsett makes the team - just sayin.....
Meyers is a lock to make the team IMHO.....

Last year Patriots had only 1 receiver in the top 100 in yards after catch per reception. (Edelman)

We had 2 more in top 200 - and we let those 2 go.
Edelman's lifetime average = 5.1
Dorsette's lifetime average = 3.8

Obviously you can be a Superbowl winner without a lot of yards after catch.
That won't prevent Dorsett from being a good #3 receiver.

Prediction: our 2019 leader in yards after catch/reception - N'Keal Harry

I'll go out on a limb and take your boy Jakobi. I think he's a little shiftier. Harry doesn't have that break away speed. The knock on him is he can't seperate.
I just need Jakobi to get enough touches.

Agree he had a rough start. Still ended up as the #1 WR in the game.

We've been over this. It's what he does with the no.1's that counts. For example, he quit on a route with Brady. You can never do that. But he's a rookie. Hopefully, he'll learn.

Josh Gordon was 6'4" 225 in 218.......Have you seen him practicing in a tee shirt and shorts?? Holy shit!!!!!

He's still 6'4" but he's added 20 lbs of pure muscle and tips out at 245 lbs. and hasn't lost a bit of speed.

He just might step in as a TE in some situations.

D. Thomas?

Plus Slater makes 7. Unusual for Patriots. I think they keep 7 to start.
The only thing that makes sense to activate D. Thomas is to play him. Find out what he has before Watson comes back?

Olszewski looks like he needs a roster spot. Does King being out for the year give him a place to fit in?
I don't se how Berrios and Olszewski clear waivers and make it to PS
