I know the Marlins are short on money, but trading away all their best young players is incredibly stupid IMO.

I can understand unloading a guy like Dee Gordon he's 30. Stanton I can somewhat understand because his contract is atrocious, but I don't see any reason they should trade away Yelich and/or Ozuna. Both are great young players who are still pretty far away from free agency.

IMO you build around an outfield of Yelich, Ozuna and Stanton.

yeah i don't know they are really starting from scratch. I guess they just want the Yelich extension off the books (reasonable contract IMO) and Ozuna is hitting arbitration years.

I wouldn't mind shipping Gamel + someone else off for a decent starting pitcher and signing Jay Bruce, but that's kind of a stretch.

I wouldn't mind that too much either but I also don't trust Dipoto to make a trade for the type of pitcher we need at the expense of a better defensive outfield. I guess Heredia would come off the bench late in games

Source: Jelfry Marte has agreed to a deal with the Rays. Marte originally signed with the Twins for $3M but his contract was voided because of a vision issue. Could mean Rays are trading for int’l money. They have est. $440K to spend during the current int’l period. @MLBPipeline

Then why not move him to first and put Gordon at 2nd and get a real outfielder. Maybe let’s not run a high sunk cost for the next 6 Years into the ground

Move Cano to 1B, Gordon to 2B, and trade Gamel, Moore, and Healy to Marlins for Ozuna and Dan Straily.

Or even better;

Trade Gonzales, Povse, and Moore for Machado and play him at SS, Segura to 2B, Cano to 1B. They want a couple of young controllable pitchers for one year of Machado who wants to play SS this year. If out of it at AS break, trade him for prospects.

Probelm I see with him, if he doesn't recover we lose a big future. If he does recover, he is traded by DIP.
