Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Mariners will sign Juan Nicasio to a two-year deal.
The deal is pending a physical, and financial terms haven't been announced. Last year, Nicasio led all National League relievers in appearance and finished with a 72 strikeouts in 72 1/3 innings while registering a 2.61 ERA for the Pirates, Phillies and Cardinals. He should get a chance for high-leverage innings behind closer Edwin Diaz for Seattle

DIP's kind of player. Great numbers for a 31 reliever who was on 3 teams last year. Career numbers 4.82 ERA so I am sure at 31 last years numbers are more of the norm than his career numbers...

Good numbers this year but before that was a replacement level player before that.

If he keeps it up, it's a decent signing. If not, it's a complete waste.

Reminds me of the Cishek signing. Nicasio was on 3 teams last year and had a career year by 2 runs over his career numbers. I think he ends up going the way Cishek did.

I honestly would've rather used that international spending money on overpaying sub-par prospects. I'd rather have someone with a high ceiling and low floor than a couple of mediocre arms.
