Don't try to argue with a Giants fan after their team won the championship MVPuig, you should know better.

Such blind fools... They've won three in five years. The know what they're doing.

Giants board is that way. ----->

Just because someone has an dissenting view of yours or others on the board does not automatically make us Giants fans. You have a homer, myopic view of the Dodgers and you sound like a halfwit most of the time.

Paying a 30 year old Han Ram a long term deal for big money makes no sense. We have prospects waiting in the wings to play short or third. There is a 19 year old cuban phenom that I would love to see the Dodgers place an international bid for, but with money tied up in "Head Case" Hanley, that may not happen. Han Ram is a defensive liability at either position. He's probably headed to the baseball abyss of the Astros so he can DH. He requires the Dodgers to make playoff roster accommodations because his defense is so bad. He's often injured. Pouty in the clubhouse. Bickers with teammates.

There is a reason the Astros are looking at Hanley.... they are one of the few teams desperate enough to sign the guy.

So to have the opinion that this guy is not Championship material is not asinine. Hell, I could be wrong, but it's merely an opinion as this is a discussion room. So, either add some insight opposing my view instead of taking the simplistic, ignorant route of pointing to the Giants board.

Oh, and here is the info on the 19 year old switching hitting shortstop, bidding will be from 30-40 million. Read up, Reggie.

we have ONE prospect on the left side to fill in starting in 2016...

and paying 30 year old's is the nature of the game, it happens every year, that's what you got to do for an elite hitter. either way you slice it, the Dodgers will be a worse team in 2015 if Hanley leaves. we'll see what happens.

Wrong again, his defense was fine in the playoffs. Good try though, even though you sound like an upset little girl :pound:

Coming from the guys who would give Han Ram a multi year deal for nearly 100 million because he played "good defense" in four games.

Reggie, I find you amazing.

I'll take the bait, you said he required changes to the playoff roster due to his defense, I argued from the very beginning that it was unnecessary and it was. Hanley played good defense in the playoffs, which is honestly where it counts. He finished 8th in MVP voting last year and is an MVP caliber bat in any lineup, which he displayed in both appearances in the postseason in his career. He's stated that he would be open to playing 3rd base and it wouldn't be hard at all to get something for Uribe, sure your defense takes a hit but as I said, you're not paying Hanley 100 million for defense, that was just a dumb comment on your part.

It gets a little tiresome after the 10th post of Giant knob-gobbling so I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings.

Let's just ignore the other teams (Red Sox and Mariners) who are pursuing him already, Mariners are said to be aggressively trying to sign Ramirez. They're desperately searching for an impact bat, which we all know isn't an easy thing to come by in the league these days, power hitting is scarce and that's especially true at the SS position.

You can see why I don't take you seriously.

I don't think Hanley's defense in the NLDS has anything to do with my desire to re sign an elite bat...

It's an elite bat, MVPuig - personally, I like the resources being spent elsewhere, But you are right we will see. I think this team is solid next year if we find a backend starting pitcher and two more very good bullpen arms. The tricky part will be the bullpen.

Question, do your over pay Shields (age 32) to shore up the backend with the Han Ram dough?

Best starting 4 in baseball if we do it.

I don't think all of the needs you stated above aren't obtainable still even with re signing Hanley.

You might be right.... someone needs to step up in the farm system regarding bullpen help.

As for SS, you can't pay a guy 100 million to win next year. That is Fox like mentality that corners a team for years to come. We just got Manny and Andruw off the books.

FYI:
Righty Dan Haren of the Dodgers has come up in trade chatter, but could retire if he is dealt away from Los Angeles, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports. Haren exercised a $10MM player option to stay on the west coast, and Heyman indicates that he might prefer to hang up his spikes than pitch for any other club but the cross-town Angels.

I would spend "Hanley" money on Shields. It helps solve part of the pitching problem and enables the Dodgers to acquire a SS who can play consistent defense. Pitching and Defense win Championships and signing Shields and parting ways with Hanley would certainly be in keeping with that adage.

Martin signed with Toronto 5/82...

I liked Martin but not at that price, glad we passed. I want Grandal from SanDiego.
