Good article, even tho it's over two years old. Not sure what, if any changes to his approach and philosophy may have been made. But we can say the basics are the basics, regardless of year. My guess is that foundation has altered little, if at all.
Fuller is sitting pretty - the Sox or so historically bad at hitting - just stirring up the dust will improve the team BA.

The Sox hired McKelvin as the bench coach - he is a catching guru by experience - I take it from that the Sox will not bring in a veteran catcher to pair with Lee - and with Quero coming up this next year.

What I hope to see this season is a Sox migration to their minor league guys getting the next man up call for the majors. No time like the present to find out you have a player - pitcher or hitter until you get them some experience in the league.

Slater:
Has more than meets the eye
Underwhelming
On the surface, his acquisition doesn’t warrant much excitement

B+

Personally I want ‘what meets the eye! How the fuck does she give this a B+? I’m generous with a D+

Hendry Alcala and Juan Berroteran

no player stats available
C+?

two 17 year old kids? C+??? no knowledge but they’re already better than average?
they don’t get grades at their level (whatever level that it). Certainly not C+’s

Justin Dunn

doesn’t add much immediate value
He regressed significantly in 2022 when he was traded to the Reds, where his ERA and WHIP dropped to 6.10 and 1.58 over 31.0 innings. He suffered a rotator cuff injury before the 2023 season began and didn’t pitch this year. Has plenty of room to improve with deceiving breaking and offspeed pitches. ability to command the ball, however, is his biggest issue
the chances of Dunn fixing his pitching mechanics on the Windy City are low

C

Does this look like the resume of C?
this guy is a D-

Penn Murfee

Although short (?), Murfee has had two solid years of MLB pitching. He has a career ERA of 2.70 and sub-1.00 WHIP while with the Mariners (that career is 83 innings).

Murfee is a great signing for the Sox. IF he returns to his pre-Tommy John self.

A?

Two solid years? Actually that’s 1 plus a small partial year and a total of 83 innings. How solid!
Of COURSE he’s an A!
This guy is a C acquisition.

So, Hanna Filippo sees an A, B+, 2C+’s and a C.
I see a C, D+, a D- and two completely unknowns.
Typical white sox bullshit writer.

Sox Fest will return in 2025 - the front office will come out of hiding. I don't know the Ramova theatre, but is sounds like a space they can control better than the large hotel.
Never heard of it - no surprise since I've been removed from the Chicago scene for decades. But I looked it up and it seems to be a pretty cool place to bring back the Sox Fest. Described as a restored 1929 movie palace, it now hosts concerts in a space with a craft brewery, bar, and grill. Supposedly it can hold up to 1,800 visitors, so there should be plenty of room for the Fest. Plus it's literally right down the street from GRF.

Have to say, it's quite interesting Reinsdorf decides to bring back Sox Fest on the heels of the worst year in our team's history. Then again, who knows, maybe it's genius on his part. I mean there's really very little in terms of looking forward to this coming season, so maybe meeting some of the players and interacting with them might boost morale for the fans and team alike.

I think Sox Fest being set up is an indication the Sox believe they will have their new position player headliners by that date. If so, I hope it means the Sox already see on the table some decent returns and are only training to trick up the take.

I'll be curious if Crochet or Robert will be amongst the attendees. To no one's surprise Crochet in particular is supposedly drawing a lot of interest from playoff and potential playoff teams.

I think a lot of the trade partners mention could use Robert in CF. After last season Robert's value is probably at a low, but if his addition pry's loose a couple of top prospects and a sprinkle of high ceiling younger guys - I can see the Sox doing that. Getz wants to get rid of everybody on the last rebuild - including Benitendi - the Sox will have to pay at least 50% of his salary to move it - but it will be worth it.

Getz is apparently paying top of the market rates for guys to join his front office.

Bannister - is the Director of Pitching
Fuller - the Director of Hitting
McKelvin - Bench Coach and Director of Defense

McKelvin was the subject of a bidding war between the Cubs and the Sox and Milwaukee wanted to keep him. He took Omar Narvaez former
Sox catcher - into a 3 War in Milwaukee - as soon as Narvaez left for a bigger contract - his production went down.

The Sox continue to march through signings of relatively new Has Beens - with solid AAAA player types with success in the minors and nubbish in the MLB. Hitting Director Fuller is being given plenty of work.

What concerns me is that we won't see if guys like Brian Ramos - Brooks Baldwin or Lenyn Sosa get their shot to prove themselves until this wave of signings wash through.

The Sox really have a bunch of young minor league pitchers with promise. More really than they can evaluate closely. I expect some of these arms might find their way into trades where they would shore up value in return for guys like Crocket and Robert.

THE RETURN OF NICK MADRIGAL BABY.

Extra points if the Cubs sign Eloy then include him too.
The famous Double Eloy - wow!

The Sox are a team that is credibly pursuing the Korean 2B Hyesoung Kim. He is 25 defensive wiz - good hitting stats . Looks like 3 years and $24 million. The Sox will have to post a posting fee - if they continue to pursue within the next 30 days.

Here's an article from CBS Sports promoting the trading of Robert, altho they also bring up the potential advantage of hanging onto him until the '25 trade deadline:

It always makes for an interesting situation when it appears a team is destined to trade one of their star players. Offseason or midseason trade, which nets a team more value?

Welp...As expected we traded Crochet for prospects.

"But the team is going nowhere so it makes sense..." chirps the "I liked the Sale trade" crowd.

Yeah...Going nowhere...Forever.

Time is a circular loop.
