yeah, cause everything always happens the same way. :rolleyes2:

You do NOT win in MLB by not paying and/or keeping good players.

Sox have proven this at this point for over a decade now.

hey, i'm the first here to suggest we keep him, but still ... every situation is different. who knows, maybe we made a good haul here. it's the old blind squirrel thing to me.
but yeah, i KNOW the sox are the worst organization out there!

We have two players on this team going into today that you would actually want their baseball card. Like, if you opened a pack, you would go..."Hey, Luis Robert...or Hey, Garrett Crochet...Not too shabby." Now we have one...and he's probably going to be traded. Every other player is a "Wow he sucks or who the hell is this guy" reaction.

And why?

Because "We suck anyway so who cares" and "Jerry's not going to pay them anyway."

Holy sh*t that makes me sad. We're going to have no fans in the 2040s and beyond lol. I'm going to be dead in a casket at my funeral with my grandchildren saying in some pew in the back row of the church "Dude...He liked THE SOX...OMG...Poor Grandpa."

Just returned from out of town (and back out again as of this Saturday). Heard about the trade. Naturally I would have preferred they traded Crochet to a NL team, but it seems like we got a decent package in the deal. One thing tho....another catching prospect? Jeez, how many of these do we need?

As an added update, the Sox now have 6 players in the MLB Top 100 list - #s 16, 25, 30, 37, 54, and 59. In the big picture, it might not amount to much, being where are team currently stands. But I can't recall the last time, if ever, we had that many in the Top 60, let alone Top 100.

Forget the "how many in top 60 or 100 prospects"

Assuming we trade Luis Robert...When was the last time the White Sox didn't field one star or at least recognizable player in a season?

I mean in the 80s we had Fisk/Baines/Seaver/Ozzie/Thigpen/Luzinski and a few other lesser known but decent players like LaMarr Hoyt

90s? Frank Thomas/Ventura/Belle/Bo Jackson/Blackjack/Rock Raines/Ray Durham

2000s? Magglio/Carlos Lee/Keith Foulke/Paul Konerko/Buehrle/Jon Garland/Jermaine Dye/Freddy Garcia/El Duque/AJ Pierzynski/Jim Thome

2010s and early 2020s? Chris Sale/Adam Dunn(even though I hated him)/Jake Peavy/Jose Abreu/Carlos Rodon/Tim Anderson/Lucas Giolito

(and obviously a few listed spanned different decades)

This team loses Luis Robert and I think it may be the only one in my lifetime where there is not 1 single proven player that has me like "I look forward to that guy batting or pitching"

For the older White Sox regs? Was it ever like this in the 50s/60s/70s? This is actually INSANE to me. The Chicago White Sox, if trading Luis Robert (who is playing well below his potential anyway), will not have one recognizable face in the majors this season.

Dumbfounded.

Honestly, I don't ever recall the Sox being this completely stripped down of proven veteran talent. I think we're about to enter unchartered waters.
