That's debatable. But the Royals still didn't win. The Dodgers have too high of a payroll to justify employing a weak manager.

Theo Epstein swipes Maddon, discussion is moot now.

Dodgers to name Oakland assistant GM Farhan Zaidi as new GM! I absolutely love this hire!

Nice, everything I read said that he was going to go with his friend Byrnes. Now we have the GM with the 2nd highest Average Wins Above Expectation in the league at the helm, as well as the assistant to the number 1 ranked Beane as our GM.

Yes, our front office has changed so much the last few weeks and for the better. So many smart people are running this organization now.

It appears that Ryan Theriot thinks our front office is a joke with the latest hires. Can someone please tell me what friggin experience Theriot has that he laughs at our latest hires. He wasn't even that good enough of a player and was damn lucky to stay in the Majors as long as he did.

Theriot is a doucher, favorite that tweet and use it against him the future.

If someone wants to give him 120+ mil over 5-6 years then so be it. 90 mil over 5 years is a good deal for him.

losing Hanley would make us worse, but it's looking more and more like that is going to happen. sigh.

if he does leave, we need to make a big splash elsewhere

What is the inside scoop on your payroll number? Is ownership expected to cut salaries, or stay at approx. the same level? With the TV deal not quite as lucrative as first thought, can they stay at the current levels anyway?

Josh Beckett and Hanley coming off the books is a good chunk of change to use. Dodgers have checked on Russell Martin but they would have to give up a first round pick to sign him, they could try to sign Axford or Neshek but other than those names I'm not sure who they'd be signing. They'd probably get a lot back if they traded Matt Kemp but he provided a lot of firepower to the lineup last year. The lineup will definitely take a hit next year if they don't sign Hanley, which seems like the case.

Giants win with Brandon Crawford, I think we can find an answer that does not zap resources.

True, that Grand Slam in the one game playoff was meaningless... Holy crap, you don't get it.

Kershaw wins the Cy Young - good for him, he earned it. I hope the WS ring follows soon.
