He would fall right to where we would be picking. Any notes on his footwork?

SCOUTING REPORT: WEAKNESSES

  • Susceptible to speed rushers. Has only average quickness off the snap and doesn't possess the acceleration or arm length to corral defenders once they cross his face.
  • Struggles to be consistent blocking in motion and doesn't have the natural foot quickness to cover a lot of ground.
  • Very inexperienced and is still learning the position
  • Loses leverage battles and plays with high pad level. Can be late off the snap.
  • Has lapses with overextending and getting his pads too far out overtop of his knees due to discipline.
  • Has a problem with balance as a result of inconsistent footwork and bends at the waist instead of at the knees too often
  • Has not learned an instinct for the game - he sometimes looks surprised when shown new pass rushing moves
  • Flashes the ability to move his man with his hands, but is not yet consistent in this area.
  • Throughout his college playing career he has never put up great grades as a pass blocker - we have graded him as only average

Most everything is coachable. And one of Matty P's strengths with DB's was working foot work...

SCOUTING REPORT: SUMMARY

If a scout were to draw up a dream starting NFL left tackle, the picture may look a lot like Faalele His height, length, and athletic build are not only prototypical but perfect for the position that helps protect the blind side of NFL quarterbacks.

He is simply massive and has huge upside - more than any other player in the entire class, to dominate as both a run and pass blocker in the NFL. He is very raw and comes with major downsides as he currently isn't polished in any aspect of the game and will likely need to be developed slowly.

He's the biggest risk-reward offensive line prospect in the draft, but we still expect to hear his name called in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft with a chance to break into day one if he shows improved quickness at the combine.

Don't these seem counter intuitive

No...?
While he doesn't have "Natural foot quickness" almost every other weakness is due to lack of experience or coaching.

Huge upside.
He'll also have year to watch Isaiah Wynn's inadequacies against speed rushers and know what he must do if he wants to play LT in the NFL.

Well the first post point out some glaring issues for the LT position in the NFL. Slow off the snap, lacks the arm length to corral defenders, doesn't have "natural foot quickness", has a problem with balance due to lack of footwork,

Yet he has a huge upside.

Seems counter intuitive to me. Is he an inexperienced big man with upside? Maybe just seems like a lot to overcome at that position.

Average quickness somehow translates to slow?
Consistency can be coached.
Inexperienced and still learning -Coaching and play time
Leverage and pad level - He's the biggest motherfucker in the draft
Has lapses due...to discipline -Coaching and play time
Balance due to bending at hips instead of knees, but not always. -Again, can that be coached out of him?
Has not learned an instinct for the game - Coaching and play time.
Flashes ability but not consistent. - Coaching and play time.
Not great throughout college - Because maybe he played rugby and basketball and not football???

Yeah, in my book, biggest risk/reward can also mean huge upside.

Then there's this...

SCOUTING REPORT: STRENGTHS

  • A giant on the field at 6’9″ and 380 pounds he is quite simply the biggest player in the entire draft class - Raw power and natural strength to overwhelm defenders in tight quarters
  • Size means he is almost impossible to move and his width makes him difficult to get around
  • Made Bruce Feldman's Freaks list at #29 -- "freakish combination of enormous size and a surprisingly athletic 29-inch vertical and 8-7 broad jump, but as he’s reshaped his body, he’s become a lot more nimble and flexible. Faalele is down about 30 pounds this offseason, in the 370-pound range"
  • Long arms and massive hands lock on well to defenders and is able to easily knock rushers on their backs
  • A super-powerful drive blocker in the run blocking game who flashes the nasty demeanor and killer instinct scouts covet
  • He has a base that is dynamic enough to reset against bull rushers who can develop an initial bit of push.
  • Has surprising quickness and explosiveness at the point of attack
  • Surprisingly good technical ability considering his limited playing experience
  • Sells trap block and can turn to seal. Fluid getting to and adjust at the second level.
  • Effective in space and usually drops his hips to get leverage and sustain against shorter defenders.
  • Has been relatively injury-free - which is rare for a man this size

Yeah...I'll stick with huge upside.
But, I'm no college scout so there's that.

Yeah, I like Evan Neal better. He'll be gone.
Faalele is #6 on that list.
Neal and Cross will be gone. Penner might be available and he'd be perfect on the left side.

Short arms is a huge problem today. Slow feet and short arms are the biggest problems for Isaiah Wynn. He's strong but just can't shift quick enoght to push fast edge guys outside o9r recover quick enough when spin inside.

Rumor on Millenium.

Bears have approached the Patriots about the #21 and the Patriots 7th Round pick.

They have supposedly offered their 2nd round, 3rd round and 5th round picks.
Those picks are #39, #71, #148

Patriots have supposedly countered with #21 for #39 and #48

If you check the pick values the #21 = 800 #39+#48 = 926

No word on how far this has gone.

Not a Patriots Rumor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But it could have a serious effect.

Tom Brady has refused to play for his present contract in Tampa Bay. He renegotiated his 2 year deal last year in order to create a shitload of cap space that allowed the Buccaneers to resign the entire Super Bowl winning team of the previous year. It was done with the understanding that his 2022 deal would be redone. ooopppsss. Now the Bucs don't have the money and Tom wants out.

Rumor from the Miami Herald.

Steve Ross has approached the Bucs with an offer.

2023 1st Round picks of the Dolphins and the 49ers and Tua For Tom Brady.

Was discussed last night on BST Fridays.

No response from the Buccaneers, according to the Herald.

The Athletic's Jeff Howe reports there's "nothing happening" between Tom Brady and the Dolphins.

It's not entirely clear what may or may not be happening between the Dolphins and Brady, who un-retired this month after six weeks away from the game. In fact, Bucs general manager Jason Licht said recently that Brady could play for Tampa beyond the 2022 season. Before Brady left New England for the Bucs in 2020, the Dolphins were among the teams vying for Brady's services. Miami going all in on a Super Bowl run -- acquiring Tyreek Hill for a massive draft pick haul -- may generate rumors that they're trying to upgrade at quarterback, which remains a weak spot with Tua Tagovailoa under center.
