He has been on the edge of being cut for some time. I'll be happy if we get anything for him. He can play so a 5th seems about right

According to NBC Sports Boston, DJ Chark and the Patriots have been talking.

Tom Curran says that he doesn't believe that it will amount to much of anything because so many teams have big money to spend. He says that as soon as a team hears that the Patriots are talking, they will wave more money in front of a player than the Patriots even have to spend.

For once, Curran is making sense. Patriots are Cap hamstrung and need to keep anything that they do completely quiet or risk losing every player that they talk with.

Bills can match whatever the Pats offer, but Bates doesn't appear to want to stay in Buffalo. Would cost the Pats somewhere around $2.85-$3.25M
