Did you know that Nolan Ryan's longest streaks without allowing a walk in a start, is 2? And he only did that 3 times. Did you know that in 773 career starts, he didn't strike out a batter in only 10 of them?

Did you know the Cubs have not been no-hit since Sandy Koufax threw a perfect game for his 4th no-hitter on September 9, 1965? A streak that now spans 7,881 games. The next longest streak is 3,794 games by the Athletics, who haven't been no-hit since July 13, 1991.

Did you know the 1917 Chicago White Sox were no-hit in two straight days, and went on to win 100 games and the World Series?

Did you know that on September 17, 1968, the Cardinals were no-hit by Gaylord Perry and the Giants, and the very next day, the Giants were no-hit by Ray Washburn and the Cardinals?

Did you know that all MLB baseballs are rubbed with a special mud from New Jersey's Delaware River prior to being played in a game? The Lena Blackburne company has a monopoly on the stuff, but it's not exactly a booming business. They sell a 32-ounce container of the mud for about $50, and that’s enough to last an MLB team an entire season. Including all the minor league and college teams which buy the special mud. The company only sells about $25,000 worth of mud each year.

Did you know that 1990 and 1963 are the only two years where the MVPs in the AL and NL wore the same number? Barry Bonds and Rickey Henderson both wore 24 and Sandy Koufax and Elston Howard both wore 32.

Did you know that a Canadian team has won a World Series more recently (Blue Jays: October 1993) than has won a Stanley Cup (Canadiens: June 1993)?

Yep. Mike Rowe went to the secret spot with the mud guy in an episode of Dirty Jobs one time. (It looked like they were kinda in the swamp a bit off the river.)His Dad did it before him I believe. 5 gallon buckets in the back of an old pickup truck.

I did not know that.

Did you know Dickie Noles is one of four players to be traded for himself? (Cubs to Tigers, Tigers back to Cubs 33 days later.)

Ouch, that sucks!

Did You Know.....
1. Owner of the Chicago Cubs, Bill Veeck, used to have midgets as food vendors at the clubs home ground, because he said that it meant that the paying public didn't have to have their view of the game spoiled! 2. The baseball tradition of spring training came about because in 1885 the Chicago White Stockings went to Hot Springs in Arkansas to prepare for the new season.

did you know?

according to the elias sports bureau, eduardo rodriguez of the sox is off the THE best start for a pitcher since the earned run became a statistic.

he is the first pitcher in MLB history to go at least 6 IP, allow 1 ER or less, and fan at least 7 in his first 3 MLB starts.

his ERA after 3 starts is .44

20.2 IP
8 hits
1 ER
7 walks
21 k's

.73 WHIP

Did you know that Tony Armas holds the record for most career starts (167) without a complete game? And did you know that Bud Norris is 5 starts away from tying that record?
Bumping this thread with some updates.

Tony Armas is now 5th in starts without a complete game. In the last 5 years he was surpassed by:

Marco Estrada (194)
Bud Norris (188)
Jake Odorizzi (188) and
Wei-Yin Chen (170)

Nathan Eovaldi and Chase Anderson with a chance to pass him this year as well. Both at 160.
