Ted Williams, pre-war:

.356/.481/.642 = 1.123 OPS
190 OPS+

3 years at war

.340/.482/.631 = 1.113 OPS

including his later down years

same with dimaggio. these guys didnt miss a beat, and it amazes me.
In 1941, Ted Williams reached base at least 4 times in 25 different games. He struck out in 26 different games.

  1. In late August 1994, MLB was over two weeks into a strike that interrupted the season. Just before the waiver trade deadline expired, the Minnesota Twins traded aging outfielder/designated hitter Dave Winfield to the Cleveland Indians for a player to be named later.

Two weeks after the trade, on Sept. 14, the rest of the 1994 season was canceled, so Winfield never played for the Indians that season, and no player was ever named in exchange.

Later on, executives from both the Indians and Twins got together for a dinner, with Indians’ execs picking up the dinner tab, making Winfield the only player in MLB history ever traded for a five-star meal.

Was surprised to see Reggie's still got a comfortable lead in career Ks.

If Jim Thome had played another 2 months he would've caught him.

Chris Davis the active leader, but almost 700 behind him.

He's on their 30 man roster.

But yeah, with 3 years left on the deal, I could see them cutting bait if he puts up another clunker like the last 3

I think it's time he be given a break. Red Sox F'd that one up period. Sure he obviously should have made that play but it's time he is let off the hook!

Strange. Buckner really never struck out but he never drew walks and had a pretty low .321 OBP. Crazy

If Davis were to stay on the field he could probably be close to that in 3-4 seasons LOL...probably won't last that long

danny ainge was the youngest blue jay to hit a HR til vlad jr last year.

blows my mind. because ainge was awful. no clue how he started at 2nd base for them.

he is still one of only 13 guys to play in the NBA and MLB.

Dave DeBusschere is the only one to pitch a shut out tho.
