the mets minors are not loaded..with tons of talent like tampa..most of there prospects are at..A.or high A..that is not a good sign..for the mets..
the cardinals could use haniger...and yeah..they do have a better farm..than..the mets...

but again....who the mariners need...is trevor story

Thoughts on Graveman?

Generally I'm for selling high on bullpen arms, but at some point, if you want to compete, you need a few bulldogs out there. He's only signed through the season, so the trade value is purely a rental.

Unless he's a must have for someone to net us a good return, I'd be very happy resigning him for a few years. Only 30 years old and he's been a monster this year.

Well he was a no brainer sell a couple of weeks ago. I think you are slowly reaching the point where selling anyone is gonna be tough. He’s only signed thru this year so I guess with him we just revisit in a couple weeks depending how the team is playing

I think it would be better for us to get more right handed plus I think his price might be higher compared to what else we can get. I’m slightly intrigued by Johnathan Scoop

The Mariners desperately need starting-pitching depth after Justus Sheffield joined Justin Dunn on the IL and is expected to be sidelined for an extended period. Even if Héctor Santiago doesn’t return until near the Deadline, he’s still not stretched out enough to give the Mariners the innings they need. And the bullpen-game strategy they’ve deployed as a regular rotation spot earlier this season isn’t sustainable -- and they’ve gone 1-7 in those games. That’s all to say that Seattle needs external help, albeit among the lower-tiered ranks. Don’t expect GM Jerry Dipoto to make a splash for Kyle Gibson. Separately, it seems increasingly likely that the Mariners will shop Mitch Haniger all the way to the Deadline. He is 30 years old, is on pace for more than 35 homers, has an affordable contract and his value will never be higher. -- Daniel Kramer

This is kind of why I brought up in the other thread of if Jerry can just flat out decide that France can be the 1B or entertain the idea of one of the OF of Lewis, Haniger or JRod playing 1B then Evan White can be on the table for an addition without a huge subtraction of a cluster of prospects. Yes, White is hurt but as long as the other team feels he will come back he is a buy low guy to get rid of a SP who is a rental. Or maybe Jerry will find someone dumb enough to pull a reversal of the Marco for O’Neill.

Sell. Bullpen arms are a dime a dozen and any pitcher can be turned into a one inning reliever. Playoff teams are always desperate for good late inning arms and the Mariners really have shit the bed over the years not dealing guys like Aardsma, League or Wilhelmsen when they were having strong years and had high value.

"...his value will never be higher."

What an absurd statement. Absolutely zero way for this guy to know that. 30 years old is nothing in baseball. It could end up being Haniger's best season in his MLB career...or it could be the start of 5 straight 30+ home run seasons.

Could be, but salary plus 1.5 years left makes his value higher than ever. That is my guess.

From what I've seen from France, im definitely comfortable with him at 1st. That's one less hole you have to fill.

I have been too. But that is a decision IMO Jerry needs to seriously consider if he is ok with it when it comes to this deadline. White’s contract is fairly team friendly.
