Just curious cause I don’t really know how to feel about. Everyone says he is great, obviously I’ve never seem him really pitch, but it just seems like a huge risk. I’m not risk adverse but just don’t see the different between giving a huge contract out to him vs giving out a huge contract to one of the huge free agents Seattle has missed out on. Yeah the last few years of a monster deal will most likely not be worth it but Ichiro and Ohtani are the only Asian players (can’t comment on Senga yet) who IMO earned their full deal. There is an argument for Darvish, but to me, when he was pitching against the Mariners I never thought the M’s had no chance. Most of all the other big contracts dudes seem to either struggle right out the gate and develop or start hot then struggle. Maybe I am Mariners centric and have blinders to but that’s how it seems all Japanese or Korean players have been for the Mariners at least outside Ichiro.Locked On boys were saying around $200M or more. Hard to believe.

I just read a headline on him from a big writer saying he could win a Cy Young right away. He is only 25. With that said, I have no clue if he is legit for the states or another over hyped Asian pitcher. My stance is simple, I will take anything that even remotely looks like an upgrade no matter the position because the idea of us building a complete team is gone. Go for an All-Star staff and hope for 3 runs a game scored.Just curious cause I don’t really know how to feel about.
