GM Meetings, a trend to watch: Team execs tell me trade conversations for position players are more serious now than at this time last year. One reason: "Buying" clubs have more interest in players under club control than those available in free agency.

#MNTwins to trim payroll in 2024. Nothing official, but it’s expected to sit between $125m and $140m. Last year, Twins payroll was a record $154m.

Teoscar Hernandez was declined the qualifying offer so he will be a free agent. I normally defend Dipoto and I will say we don't know what his plans are this offseason but TH was the 2nd best hitter in this lineup belting almost 30 homers and almost 100 RBIs for him to walk to me kinda stings.

Dipoto said one of the reasons they didn’t offer a qualifying offer to Teoscar Hernandez is trying to find a way to cut down strikeouts in their lineup. They are looking for hitters, preferably right-handed hitters, that can provide offensive impact with less swing and miss.

Ideally, the right-handed hitter would play a corner outfield spot and he wouldn’t rule out more of a full-time DH if it addressed that need.

So why not just say they are going to try to sign JD Martinez? I wouldn’t mind the move but it is going to be irritating because he is a year too late. They could’ve desperately used him at DH last year but from everything I’ve seen or read they didn’t really have much interest in him

As much as I would love for them to move on from Geno it creates two huge problems.

A. They don’t have a replacement. Paying Chapman more money to replace him doesn’t make sense, if they move Rojas back to his better defensive position cool, but Rojas still is a platoon player and then it opens a hole at 2B.

B. The players already seem frustrated, so trading a team leader for most likely nothing of significance most likely wouldn’t go over well.

With the Jays who would they get? Springer, if the Jays pay the difference in salary. But everyone else that the Jays have that would make the Mariners better would cost a lot of prospects which Jerry has shown he doesn’t like to do that.
