Release the Kraken - Fuck the Canucks
They pride themselves on the details and fundamentals and have no clue what the mechanics of a throw are supposed to be. Just inexcusable.
Just how fvcked up is the coaching staff ... at least for QB development .. read the bottom part of this article.
Where UW Huskies UDFAs are signing: Jake Browning gets record signing bonus
That was all in that article I linked pre draft where he talked about that 3 month stint. The quote in this was taken right from that. And yeah, that's why I was pissed off at the staff when that article came out.
There is zero excuse for a top flight college football staff to have a kid that hasn't ever played baseball or golf and had no understanding of how to use the lower body to add more power and not have the staff recognize that and develop it.
So what obvious things are they not finding/fixing with the current guys?
If it makes you feel better, sure. Do you have confidence they are finding/helping the deficiencies of Eason and Haener? I still see Haener making the same mistakes and so far Eason hasn't looked sharp. Again, yes they are without their top receivers, but I'm just talking form, mechanics, and fundamentals.I'm somewhat playing devil's advocate on this, but whatever changes that Browning made were probably so minute that you wouldn't even be able to notice it aside from the velocity of his throws.
Think of it like this: When Browning went to that QB development group, he probably had over a dozen people dedicated to pouring over tons of data to find the issue. The Seattle Times article I believe likely simplified it so it was in laymen's terms, but I can't imagine that any college football team has the resources to dedicate an entire group of people just to improve one flaw in a player's game.
I don't know. Perhaps this issue could have been addressed earlier, but I'm just trying to give the Huskies the benefit of the doubt. I just see it as one QB coach trying to develop 4 or so guys versus an entire highly paid team of people working with one guy at a time.

I just expect more. They have the talent.
I'll believe this staff can put it all together and make a worthy elite level offense... when they actually do so. They are killer on defense and inconsistent on special teams, but haven't put it together on the other side of the ball yet.Do I have confidence they are finding/helping the deficiencies of Eason and Haener? I don't know. I don't lack confidence, but I don't necessarily have confidence. Things like this are difficult to determine. Browning's improvement when this was spotted I feel like was more of an aberration that I hope/don't think reflects the competency of the UW staff at QB development.
So far the performances by Eason and Haener leave a lot to be desired, but I can't read too much into Spring practices. Albeit if they were tearing it up, I probably wouldn't be dismissing it as I am now.
Personally I don't think I'm going to worry too much until I see them in a live game.

Exactly, it was trending up with Tedford around, and then dropped kind of hard when he moved on. Hamdan's young and likely has a bright future ahead of him, but he's not experienced enough to make those leaps without some kind of mentor. And it would seem Petersen is not one directly.I'm with you there.
So far I have not a fan of Bush Hamden and have a bad feeling we're going to be frustrated with him again in 2019. I think Chris Petersen is a great head coach and I believe in his philosophy, but I wish he would be more willing to bring in someone who wasn't one of "his guys." Obviously this is purely speculative, but I feel like the Husky offense would've been better in 2018 if they had an experienced play caller.
Difficult to quantify the impact that Jeff Tedford had as an assistant with us, but the offense was much better when he was on the staff.
This ^^ ... they need to use this as advertising to these recruits.UW stock has to be at an all time high when it comes recruiting considering what we just sent to the NFL. I hope they continue to take advantage of this cred.
I wouldn't mind seeing UW go after SC's new OC .. Graham Herrell.Ok, and use some of that cred to get some really smart offensive gurus around the program as well.
Add another 3* rated recruit to the list ...Washington Huskies selected in this year's NFL draft:
First round
Kaleb McGary, OT: Atlanta (4* recruit)
Second round
Byron Murphy, CB: Arizona (4* recruit)
Drew Sample, TE: Cincinnati (3* recruit)
Taylor Rapp, S: Los Angeles Rams (3* recruit)
Fourth round
Greg Gaines, DT: Los Angeles Rams (3* recruit)
Fifth round
Ben Burr-Kirven, LB: Seattle (3* recruit)
Jordan Miller, CB: Atlanta (3* recruit)
Seventh round
Myles Gaskin, RB: Miami (3* recruit)
And within minutes after the draft was completed these Huskies signed as free agents:
Jake Browning, QB: Minnesota (4* recruit)
JoJo McIntosh, S: Washington (3* recruit)
Jaylen Johnson, SDE, Denver (3* recruit)

I don't think USC is going to settle for anything less than a big name hire if Helton gets the ax. Agreed big time on Petersen keeping a small circle in regards to hiring coaches. He needs to expand.Verdict is still out as to how Harrell will perform as a play caller, but he's a really smart guy. Odds are the Trojans disappoint and replace Clay Helton which would mean Harrell would likely be available whenever Helton's replacement is cleans house.
Hearing his name and looking at his Wikipedia page suddenly made me feel really old. I remember being in high school when he was putting up video game numbers under Mike Leach at Texas Tech.
I just hope that when Bush Hamden inevitably disappoints, Petersen will actually replace him with someone who isn't one of his guys. Petersen is definitely a top-10 CFB HC, but I think his biggest limitation is that he doesn't really seem willing to add someone to the coaching staff that isn't one of his guys. He's quite limited when he doesn't look outside of his circle to hire someone.
