Not that worried about the two of them leaving. You can't keep bringing in top flight QB's and expect all of them to stay.

And no AG, not going there. Just meant there would be options. It's not that the cupboard would be bare if Eason left at the end of this coming season. There will for sure be a few options.

Yeah it is today's game!
These kids don't stay very loyal anymore, seem to get butthurt if they get beat out and instead of competing harder they pack their bags and go look for greener grass.

I read some speculation that it looked as if Morris had either matched or surpassed Yankoff and Sirmon on the depth chart.

Even with their departures I agree that I'm fine with the QBs still. Apparently Eason said he planned on staying two years. Who knows if that's legit, but perhaps that also played a role. Even if it's not true, the QBs still look good going forward:

2019:
1. Jacob Eason (rs. Jr)
2. Jake Haener (rs. So)
3. Dylan Morris (Fr)

2020:
1. (Maybe) Eason (rs. Sr)
2. Jake Haener (rs. Jr)
3. Dylan Morris (rs. Fr)
4. Ethan Garbers (Fr)

2021:
1. Jake Haener (rs. Sr)
2. Dylan Morris (rs. So)
3. Ethan Garbers (rs. Fr)
4. Sam Huard (Fr)

2022:
1. Dylan Morris (rs. Jr)
1. Ethan Garbers (rs. So)
1. Sam Huard (rs. Fr)

Obviously this is just purely speculative, but the Huskies are set at QB for a while as of right now.

Even prior to Petersen's arrival at UW I wasn't concerned about him recruiting.

Not sure how much of it is development and coaching or the Huskies being able to identify diamonds in the rough. I mean shit, there are over a million high school football players in the nation. There are going to be a lot of guys who fly under the radar and become stars.

Strange to think that J.J. Watt was a 2 star prospect.

I think it has more to do with the NCAA changing the transfer rules. Most kids now are granted a waiver to transfer and not have to sit out a year. In January the AP reported that 79% of transfer waiver appeals were granted since the new rules were enacted. I don't know what the numbers were like before, but I can't imagine it was even half of that.

There is something wrong if 5* and 4* walk out the front door and your left with a bunch of 3* back ups behind the guy that said "no thanks " the first time you offered him a scholly!

They wanted playing time. This new NCAA transfer portal offers them that opportunity.

Meh, I don't blame the coaching staff because I'm fine with the QB situation and I can't entirely blame Yankoff and Sirmon for deciding to leave when they know they can transfer and get a better chance at playing time/earlier playing time.

The post I made showing the probable players at the position even after Yankoff and Sirmon decided to enter the portal makes it pretty improbable either would gain significant playing time.

If you're Yankoff or Sirmon, do you risk riding the bench for your entire college career, or transfer somewhere else where you know that you'd either get early playing time or eventually become a starter. At UW, neither of those would be guaranteed.

Yes I do! Cause at the end of the day my generation knows the definition of "commitment!" You commit to a program because you want :

1. win!
2. Free education
3. propel to the next level
4.win
5.win

These kids they want :

1. about me
2. propel to the next level
3. about me
4. propel to the next level

For both these guys to get all butthurt and walk ( cause they took one spring camp to take their shot) instead of going through the process of college football and progressing up the depth chart and actually taken on the challenge of beating out the starter, I say good luck in life! Cause at the end of the day when life is throwing down the biggest shit piles we all know you two are running for the hills!

I can't disagree with you on the generational difference, you're right there. My millennial generation is pretty fucked up and those younger than us are probably even worse. I honestly blame social media for that. I know you'll teach your kids differently.

That aside, I still think they made the right decision.

They can still win, get a free education, propel to the next level and do what's best for them if they transfer. If they stay, there is a strong possibility that they can win - without really contributing - and get a free education. But if they stay, their odds of making a contribution towards winning will be minimal at best and riding the bench won't get them to the next level.

I'm also inclined to agree with you on your last point, but in the end I think they did the best decision to maximize their ability to accomplish all of the goals you laid out. What they did by breaking their commitment and chickening out of a battle is dishonorable and something I hope for their future they don't repeat.

George H.W. Bush called Lyndon Johnson in the early 70s when H.W. was a U.S. Congressman asking LBJ's advice on running for senate. LBJ's response was, "Son, do you know the difference between congress and the senate? It's the difference between chicken shit and chicken salad."

In the case of Yankoff and Sirmon, they had to decide between chicken shit and chicken salad and they took the better of the two. Although Bush lost his senate election for what it's worth, lol.

This got a chuckle out of me.

I (try) to read a non-fiction book a week and this was one of my favorite things I learned from the Jon Meacham biography of George H.W. Bush I completed recently. If you have the patience to read a biography, I highly recommend it.

You'd have more luck stuffing me in a garbage can if you had one of your giant ass sons put me in there :suds:
