From what little I could get from the story it seems Haener thought he did better than Eason and had won the job. Certainly added to it, but he had to have already decided if it didn't go his way to go to plan B and no one should blame him really. If he stayed he had a solid chance of seeing real game time. Eason already missed a season with injury and doesn't move well. He's going to take hits. But if his heart is set on being a starter and only has two years of eligibility left he's gotta do what he's gotta do.

Petersen also mentioned that both QBs would see action against Eastern. That's the biggest surprise to me about this entire thing.

I got word from a guy who scouts for UW down in SoCal and Nevada that Heaner got hosed. I tried to squeeze him for more details but he isn't talking.

I have faith in Petersen, but it is what it is. He has his reasons.

I started writing an essay on Husky Nation about it then deleted it. Not going to get into Facebook arguments with a bunch of emotional, low-IQ individuals.

Let's look at this from Haener's perspective:

Scenario 1: Eason goes to the draft after this year and gets into a QB battle as a redshirt junior. What if he loses once again to the bigger, higher ranked prospect? Then what? He transfers and has to sit out a year.

Scenario 2: Eason stays both seasons and then Haener is a redshirt senior going through a QB competition once again against blue chip prospects where there is no guarantee to start.

If I were him I'd transfer in a millisecond. Too much risk. I wouldn't want to lose out on my dream of being a starting QB for a power-5 program because I made a poor decision.

If I was Heaner I'd be looking at at MWC team like San Jose St., Fresno St, Nevada, etc ...

Broke my own rule and read some of the comments.. a few douchenozzles already. Won't go back and read more.

Feel the same way about Haener as I did Wedington or anyone else that changes/transfers: Can't blame you for doing what's best for you, but now that you aren't a Husky anymore I've got no interest in what you are doing. And if you end up at a Pac12 school... well fuck you. I hope someone whacks Yankoff (see what I did there).

I guess I will get this out of the way,

I hope Haener has a good college career else where and as a fan I appreciate his commitment of working hard here.

Now its time to get ready for the season. I think they have a good QB here that was brought here to start the second chapter of this rebuild and help put this program back on top where it belongs.

A shame the kid couldn't hang on but understandable why he left UW. Best of luck too him.

Nerves vs excitement?

Finally time for some ball. Some of the unknowns will be answered this week, others against Cal next week.

Are you more nervous over the offense or just excited for some ball?

Just excited for ball!

I feel the offense will be just fine and lead the PAC12 in most category's.
Defense will be learning every week. They are going need that time to grow together.

Unfortunately I'm going to be in a plane over an ocean during the game so someone else by all means make the game thread Sat morning anytime ya want.

I'll check in on it after I land and hopefully it goes well with a solid W to start the season.

Appears the Cal game will be on FS1 so should be able to watch it at moms house.

UH game is PAC12 net and possible I can get the feed on my laptop.

Go Dawgs!!!
