Anyone other than me watching this game??
I agree it was not a fumble. But the deciding factor is if the arm/hand was, with the ball in it. Zappe had an unorthodox throwing motion on that one. Kind of a 3/4 delivery with a slight jerk which I think made it harder to call? If he had come straight over the top, I think it would've been much more clear.Zapped fumble wasn't a fumble. I used my TIVO and moved it forward microsecond by microsecond until it was clear the ball was moving forward. I was able to click forward 40 times before Garret contacted the ball. Why bother reviewing it if you aren't reaching the correct conclusion? I do give props for the onside kick conclusion when I thought they might go inconclusive.
I could be wrong but I believe the standard is whether or not the ball is moving forward. That was the only thing I looked for and it was moving forward. Now don't confuse the arm moving forward with the ball. There are moments where the arm moves forward but the the ball isn't yet.I agree it was not a fumble. I watched it on Game Pass last night.Anyone other than me watching this game??
Chubb is the main cog in the Browns offense. Problem is that the Patriots are concentrating on him unless the offense sets up three wide.
Pats shut 'em down on 3rd and 7. Barmore is down. 8:00 minutes to go in the 2nd.
The hand with the ball must be going forward.I could be wrong but I believe the standard is whether or not the ball is moving forward. That was the only thing I looked for and it was moving forward. Fortunately this is a technical discussion since that turnover did not impact the game. I was surprised there were no comments about whether Marcus Jones had an interception. I dismissed that notion immediately since the next play was a punt, sure enough they had better field position after the punt.
Is that different from what what I wrote? The hand with the ball must be going forward.
An arm being cocked and then having a player chop the arm can dislodge the ball before the arm starts forward. But the arm momentun still goes forward with an empty hand. That is a fumble. If the hand and ball are in forward motion then it should be an incomplete.
