Doesn't the comment on Pena describe about 1/2 of our team?

The Tigers bailed out Max in the 9th last week after his worst outing of the season, and have given him the best run support in the AL this season at over 7 runs a game. I don't think there needs to be any apologizing.

When Lester is "on" he'll do that to the best teams. His health has been questionable the last year and a half,
but he is our ace.

Lack of effort was not your team's problem last night, I assure you. Getting even one run against a healthy Jon Lester is difficult.

1.71 ERA in his last 6 games ... yes, THIS Jon Lester is tough to hit.

You are really going to complain about miggy not coming thru for one game. Guy can barely walk and oh hes hitting .360 leads the league in just about everything, but lets whine about one game. The tigers arent going to go undefeated the rest of the season, they will lose games, its ok. They will not win every game, you get way too crazy over one loss and this was against one of the best teams in baseball and one of the hottest pitchers.

I didn't think Lester was that over powering. The Tigers still got hits just could not string them together.

Congratulations Matt T you have played yourself off the playoff roster! He looked pathetic at the plate waving at pitches like he was lost!

Yup 2E is officially in the dog house....hes supposed to be able to hit lefties.....i think he just swung and missed again......

Nick c cant be any worse in the role....give him a shot....who cares about 2E's confidence. He had a hot streak and it gave him a season on the team....but hes out of gas now.

He made the roster largely because he could hit lefties ... in spring training and early in the season, anyway. Now Tui is down to about .240 against them. Dirks is hitting LHPs better, and HE SUCKS.

I agree. He's had his "Brennan Boesch moment" of looking like a major league hitter, but gravity works.

I don't think it will even be a hard decision to leave him off and put Jhonny P back on. Whether he's ever in left or not wouldn't matter. He's an actual hitter off the bench. And we don't really have any of those. (No offense to Bryan Pena)

Every time Coke is warming up in the pen I get a text from my old man that reads,"Leyland has dinner reservations again." I laugh, but I'm still angry. Phil Coke didn't learn how to get lefties out while visiting lovely Toledo, I'm sure of it.

Got my Vcash down on Ricky for tonight. The Sauwks like to make you throw strikes, and that's what Kid Rick does. Looking forward to him using that curve of his while he's ahead in the count tonight. (I also took the over)

Agree. It'll be interesting to see who is left off the playoff roster. I would expect that they'll go down to 11 pitchers as Ricky can fill the Bonderman role. So could just add Peralta for a pitcher and be done. My gut says it isn't that simple. I really think he might want Perez on the post-season roster, because of his PR ability. Note that they brought him up just before the Aug 31 deadline to establish post-season eligibility (along with Coke ... ugh!!!). Certainly that makes Santiago vulnerable. Ramon is better than most like to give him credit for, but he obviously isn't irreplaceable. And/or, there's 2E. I believe the only way 2E misses the post-season is if Nicky C gets some sort of opportunity in Sept and goes nuts with it. Leyland will want a righty OF option in post-season. Either 2E or Nicky C will be on the post-season roster. Unfortunately, right now it's 2E, which is a waste of a spot as he has reverted to being, well, himself in the last two months.
