He's not going anywhere. He is flat out too good to trade. There is almost no chance of Houston getting better via draft picks than they are with him no matter how good the haul of picks that they would get.

The only trade I could see where they would have a chance is with Miami if Miami gave them Tua (young QB with some potential) and then like 5 first rounders. A package like that is what it would take.
Sorry ducky. Had to bump.

in terms of the Browns POV they wouldn't have been bad enough to get Stroud regardless. For the Texans....yes they are winning this trade going away so far. It can still be a trade where both teams win but in terms of value there is almost nothing that can happen short of Cleveland winning a super bowl that can push them ahead.
From the Brown's POV...

Mayfield (since leaving): 398/640 4306 yds 24 TDs 13 INTs 86.0 passer rating
Watson (as a Brown): 204/341 2217 yds 14 TDs 9 INTs 81.7 passer rating

Bumping just to say: since this thread, CJ Stroud has thrown more NFL TDs than Watson.
So I wonder how those who argued so strongly that this was a slam dunk great move by Cle and criticized anyone who thought it was too much to give up in the form of so many picks and so much cap space to get a guy who hasn't played in a while and has issues feel now. Perhaps less condescending I'd guess

He had good stats in Cleveland too. That wasn’t the issue. The issue was this team had a clear ceiling with Baker. Those stats from Watson, half with little preparation with the team and half severing injuries and no real chemistry. Watson was just find his groove and then done.

It's bizarre how bad Watson has been with Cle. This could go down as a monumentally all-time horrible trade. That roster is so good outside of QB. Even average QB play has them in the mix for serious playoff advancement.

Who knew that wacking your rod in front of strangers would make you a much worse QB?!?!

Guess the poor guy wore out his throwing arm.

....

People forget that Watson was EASILY a top 5 QB in his last couple of years in Houston. And he was only 25 years old. I am still shocked that Stefanski cant seem to get him back on track. Guy was completing passes at a 70% clip in Houston at a 8. ypa average. He is barely above 60% in Cleveland and his YPA has dropped to 6.5. And the most incredible thing is that he has significantly better cast in Cleveland.

They did have a clear ceiling but at the same time Cleveland's defense is why you guys could have been Super Bowl contenders. If you guys had Baker Mayfield and Jim Schwartz at the same time you'd be in the same ballpark as the Niners where you just have an awesome team and hope your QB can make it past the finish line. You can win a Super Bowl that way.

The Watson gamble, though, was you could've contended for a a Super Bowl for the next decade. Its really hard to keep an elite defense together.

Of course, I guess everyone already knows that. Watson is still young enough to compete for multiple Super Bowls if he gets healthy. And wants to.
