I agree, which is why I think the Huskers need to hire a big name, not another coach with ZERO head coaching experience.

Doesn't matter who they hire they won't get back to elite. And what makes anyone think a big name head coach would want to go there, especially with Michigan and Florida available.

Seems like a legit firing. Not sure what happened to the defense that they had when he was in his earlier years.

Pelini was using the defensive schemes he learned as a position coach in the NFL back in the early 2000's.

The game has passed him by and he is no innovator. "Guru" if you will.

I'd look at Jim McElwain. Did wonders at CSU. Not sure Nebraska can pull away a HC at a major school.

Great passing spread killer D. Awful sideline to sideline run D.

And what was his position coach assignment in the NFL?

BOOM!!!!

Nebraska needs someone that fits their culture. They are attempting to be a Big 10 team now and doing a poor job of it despite how bad that conference is. Bronco Mendenhall would be a good fit.

So what you're saying NU will be doing the same thing 7 years from now. Unless NU has accepted being an average program and has realized the 90's are never coming back, then I guess they should hire another coach with no head coaching experience and fire this guy 7 years from now.......

No.

There are head coaches at lesser programs that have taken their programs to higher places with 1/2 the resources/facilities they'll have at Nebraska.

They can be paid in the same range as Pelini.

I have made it very clear that it's very unlikely Nebraska will hire a coordinator.

I think that is why Nebraska waited last year, Texas, Penn State, and USC were out there.

Now, it is Michigan and Florida. Heck, next year it could be A&M. Not to mention Miami might be around.

Every year there will be a hotter school than Nebraska, just do it now.

Oh, I agree. Those days are gone forever and are never coming back. However, I think the Huskers have a chance at winning a conference title at least every now and then with a big name HC. But yes, in reality, Corn Husker fans need to accept that they are the new Iowa......

Nebraska doesn't want to pull a big name from a different school.

It really gets old from you TexasExes.

Texas is done. Texas is 17-14 in AUSTIN over the last five years. Texas needs to accept the fact that Baylor, A&M, and TCU are better than them.

Strong has all the resources he needs to turn the program around. The Lone Star State has the best recruits in the country, plus Austin is an awesome city for recruits to flock to. The state of Nebraska has ZERO talent and I don't see the B1G allowing NU to recruit unlimited dumbfuck partial qualifiers anytime soon, then throw in the fact NU cut off their recruiting pipeline in TX once they left for the B1G. Texas isn't done by a longshot son......
