FYI the Thunder actually have 7 owners and none of them own more than 19 percent of the team. Clay Bennett is just the front man. Ever heard of George Kaiser? Well he’s just one of the other owners and he is worth 16.1 billion. So no, money is not a problem.

Bill Cameron, owner of the Dallas Wings, is another of the owners. He is worth an estimated $68.1 billion. Enough of this lol.

He doesn’t have to moron, but if he wanted to he absolutely could. The team is worth $4 billion
What you are saying his no basis in fact or reason. Please game out how the team being worth 4 billion would help in huge luxury tax payments. Maybe if you think really hard you will get to reason. OKC doesnt have huge revenue streams like some teams and doesnt have a super rich owner like other teams. Its why they decided not to pay Harden what would amount to peanuts.

Shai is already obviously on a super max. Williams is in year 3. Holmgren year 2. The clock is ticking.

You didn’t read the last 2 posts, the Thunder owners are far from poor, not even close. Lmfao for thinking you understand this team. There was so much more to the Harden thing than met the eye, certainly not something simpletons would understand.

I guess we will see. Its written down now. I have a strong suspicion we will be revisiting a few years from now and you will have a lot of crow to eat- but we shall see.

I wish the Thunder the best of luck- and that they have more success than the squandered Durant/RW/Harden/Ibaka era- where they had one of the greatest collections of young talent in NBA history and totally fucked it up.

I have no crow to eat, you are the one saying stupid shit talking out your ass. Just because the Thunder can spend what they want doesn’t mean they will though. These are smart businessmen, smart enough to hire a great GM and bring quality people together to do something. You won’t find a single ex player say anything bad about this organization. Top notch top to bottom and they have a chance to do something unreal, their way.

Good lord you are stupid. Totally missing the point- either purposefully or through sheer mountains of ignorance.

My point was- that they should go for it- since in the long run, injuries, contracts, upsets, etc. happen all the time in the NBA. Plenty of teams looked stacked with young talent only to fall with no results- if anyone knows that it is an OKC fan.

If the very best scenario happens and everyone works out and hits their ceiling- that has its own problems and luxury tax concerns that cannot be overcome without spending huge dollars.

Maybe it works out great- and OKC spends a 100$ in luxury tax a year and wins multiple titles and no one wants their own team and everyone stays healthy and no one gets hurt in the playoffs and the team gets upset. However, that is almost always a pipe dream.

Win it when you can- dreams of a long term dynasty almost never come together- and when they do- they need to be backed up with a lot more money than OKC has, or has EVER been willing to spend in the history of the franchise.

That’s your opinion, and you said a shitload more than that by the way. I told you what the whole ownership group is worth. Pretty funny that all that was true when people were calling them cheap with the Harden situation. They didn’t say a word, just let people think what they wanted and moved on. You obviously know nothing about making plans and executing them. The Thunder would be so stupid to stop midstream in a plan that has such an upside. Thanks for your concern though.

Also, it’s the 3rd year for Chet as well. All in the plan.

I am not oblivious to facts, but those facts show that the Thunder have a good 5 year window starting this season to do some damage. The bevy of draft picks are going to come in handy to stretch it out too. The Thunder are ahead of schedule and have no reason to panic.

They should absolutely go for it.

That does not mean trading for Giannis. Not the right move.

Keep the 3 together as long possible and build around them.

And that is exactly what they are doing. Yes extensions for Jdub and Chet are coming, but the team has been preparing for it by locking up role player. Dort, Joe and Wiggins are all wrapped up for a bit. After next season they have a team option for Hartenstein so I expect they will be looking to replace him in the draft. Caruso will be extended on a friendly deal in December. AJ Mitchell and Dillon Jones both look likes guys that are going to stick from the most recent draft. Then the draft picks. Only an idiot would panic at this point. Never heard Presti referred to in that manner.

The Cavs and Thunder are both young, talented teams that, if they can stay healthy and together, could be seeing each other in the finals a few times. Expect more of this doom and gloom from Wiggy. lol

Wiggy puts too much emphasis on how rich the owner is. But he is correct in stating that now is the time for the Thunder to push all of their chips in. I think that with the vast majority of owners in the league, it's more a willingness of how much they are willing to spend than how much they can spend.

The "problem" with the amount of young top-level talent the Thunder have is that they eventually have to find a way to pay them. All it takes is 1 or 2 guys who the team was hoping would give them a "hometown discount" to decide not to and they'll be faced with some tough decisions.

As for injuries, etc. that could de-rail things...that's shit every team has to worry about every year. And of course, can also force a team to have to make tough decisions.

And as I educated you all on, together the Thunder owners are among the richest in the league. They are not going to anything crazy or stupid though.

No doubt there will tough decisions to make, but being in the position to have to make them is optimal obviously. I am not concerned about the combo of Shais super max kicking in with Jdubs and Chet’s next contract. Obviously real issues happen if either of those guys end up qualifying for the super max but thankfully that is years down the road.

Tough break for Chet. Kid can’t seem to get a break last few years health wise. Thunder are going in the right path

He played all 82 games last year just to show he could do it. Both injuries have been freak occurrences but his frame tests the laws of physics for sure. Just hope he really can come back mid Feb or so.

And that illustrates the injury concern with where OKC is in their development.

Based on his talent, you'd figure Embiid would have taken the Sixers to the finals a time or 2 by now...but he can't stay healthy. Same with Kawhi and the Clips. Like they say, the best ability is availability.

A bit early to be hitting Chet with the "injury prone" label (he did play all 82 last year), but considering he missed his entire first season due to injury and now this happens...it's definitely something to keep an eye on, imo.
