That team instantly is the best in the NBA

I think they are right now anyway.

I would not trade for Giannis.

Keep the young core of 3 in tact. Make a smaller deal or 2 to add a some veteran complimentary pieces.

Giannis only has a couple years of elite play left in him. He has a lot of mileage and because his game is built around his athleticism, I worry about what he is 3 years from now when that fades a bit.

He will certainly be a good player. But better than JDub?

I don’t know. And you will have to pay him a crap ton of money.

Trading for Giannis right now would likely result in a title, but it is a short sighted move that would limit the likelihood of a legit dynasty.

This. Presti is always saying why would we trade for something we very well may already have? Now they don’t have a Giannis, no one does, but I don’t think they need one.

I don’t either.

And how long before JDub is a better player?

JDub is rising and Giannis will start to fade.

Besides, JDub can shoot. Fits their play style better. Giannis isn’t spacing the floor. He and SGA would basically have to take turns.

Jdub isn’t close to his best I don’t think. Watching this team Daugneault still has guys working on what they need to be for the good of the team. But if you will notice when things get dicey Jdub is bringing the ball up the floor and being more aggressive. He has a lot more in him than he is having to show because the guys around him are so good. He’s my favorite player in the league and a lot of that is just his attitude. He just rolls with whatever happens.

When will Giannis fade? That is kinda the point. Giannis is only 29 and he already has ridiculous post game. Like I said, yes maybe when is around 34. That gives OKC 4-5 years and they will be overwhelmimg favorites.

JDub COULD be a better player and enough for this team but I highly doubt he will be a top 3-5 player for the next 3-4 years like Giannis.
They have Shai, shooters and Chet who can spread the floor. Chet being a #3 instead of a #2. Giannis won’t have to play 40 mins a night with OKC’s depth, like he is doing now which ultimately increases his longevity.

He will never reach his full potential until he goes to a team where he can be a true #1. I think that would unluck JDub like Kawhi. Giannis doesn’t need to carry a team on his back like Lebron anymore. This would benefit both players in the future and OKC becomes overwhelming favs

All hypothetical bc it won’t happen

It is a money and fit problem too.

And I think over the next 5 years, Giannis is not clearly better than JDub for that span.

Look back at this in 3 years and I would be willing to bet the side with JDub is the clear winner of the deal.

The idea that they would trade for Giannis is silly.

People havent fully appreciated what this new CBA is going to do to roster construction. You arent going to have 2 supermax players on the same team going forward except in situation like Boston where the team is willing to spend to absurd levels. Small market teams like OKC cant do that.

This offseason for OKC is NUTS. When it is done, people will have a little more appreciation for how restrictive the new CBA really is.

Shai will ink his supermax. Will pay him on average $73M a year over 4 years.

Chet and Williams get their max extensions.

And the money game and how long you can keep these 3 on the same roster and still fill out the rest of the roster starts to tick real quick.

Adding Giannis and his more than $25M more cap him in place of Williams just would further complicate the situation.

They have the assets right now to blow Milwaukee away w/ an offer for Giannis... (Granted they may need to wait for I-Hart's contract to become eligible in order to match salaries)

This is their world and the other 29 teams are just living in it.

Gotta win at least 2 chips before dynasty should even be whispered
