Yelena Belova / Black Widow (Florence Pugh) character poster:
Official confirmation of what had been clear would happen for a week:
Black Widow is now indefinitely postponed because of coronavirus concerns
Follow-up: Black Widow now scheduled for Friday, November 6, 2020.
Holy crap! Why would they delay it again when most all theaters are open now? Nov 7th would have been perfect....Release date delayed again by covid-19 to Friday, May 7, 2021, a full year after the original release date. It will no longer make 2020.
They're probably seeing how Tenet isn't fairing all that well, so they wanted to play it safe and move it back instead of risking it losing money. Hard to tell when the public will mostly be ready to go back to theaters again.Holy crap! Why would they delay it again when most all theaters are open now? Nov 7th would have been perfect....
Except it does have Christopher Nolan's name attached to it, which is a big deal since people know his movies are usually pretty good.I understand where they are coming from but Tenet doesn't have a connection to a huge movie universe and a huge fan base as Black Widow does. It would have done just fine in Nov.
I was surprised that they didn't just dump New Mutants on Disney+ and be done with it. But I guess what they did was a good second choice. Using it as a sacrificial lamb to see how it'd fair with the theaters slowly opening back up since it was probably going to lose money regardless.Yeah even wonder woman pushed back again which all this isn't a coincidence. New Mutants came out which was a disaster as expected a lot of big budget movies don't seem to want to launch which is strange to me because all though times are tough there are literally no movies of worth being played so now you would think would be a great time to premier something.
Also I thought that they were talking about moving black widow to Disney plus? Maybe because Mulan was a disaster they didn't want to pull the trigger on that?
Now delayed by covid another two months from Friday, May 7, 2021, to Friday, July 9, 2021, and also will be released not just to theaters, but simultaneously to Disney+ (requiring additional payment to watch, as was the case with Mulan).
