My take is that he’s too valuable to Woody to move out of that role right now. Woody is looking at wins to look good. Burke of course has earned a chance at starting a long time ago.

in that scenario, which of these is happening:

1) The FO wants Burke to start, but is being overruled by Woody
2) The FO isn't interested in Burke being a starting pitcher

It is sad that he doesn't recognize that we could win more with him in the rotation.

I just wish the front office's hands weren't tied here. I guess JD doesn't wield as much power as President of Baseball Operations as he did as General Manager.

Having your hands tied and being hands off in certain situations are two completely different things.

If there are enough things he doesn't like about the manager then he will fire him, but I don't think JD is handling his manager like a puppet.

Ragans, 24, was a first-round pick in 2016 and was sidelined for the 2018 through 2020 seasons due to Tommy John surgery and the COVID-19 pandemic. However, he rebounded last season and has been arguably the best pitching prospect in the system in 2022. Ragans, whose plus changeup is his signature pitch, has a 3.04 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 113:31 K:BB in 94.2 innings split evenly across Double-A Frisco and Triple-A. If he pitches well Thursday, there's no reason he can't stick in the rotation for the rest of the campaign.

JD makes mistakes. Young makes mistakes. Woodward makes mistakes.

They are all responsible for their own mistakes and for those mistakes made by those under their authority.

Some are bigger and more costly than others.

Pointing out mistakes and ascribing them to the ones that make sense to the individual pointing them out, is fine for fans to do.

Sometimes we make mistakes in who we ascribe mistakes to, but at least we can't get fired for doing so.

For like 3-4 more starts after that depending how deep he goes in games

The idea that Burke should be a starter, and Woody is either too incompetent or stubborn to allow it to happen, while the Front Office refuses to get involved either way, isn't so much "pointing out mistakes" as it is adding to the increasingly absurd narrative that this board has created with Woody. Right alongside the idea that the Rangers can't call up and evaluate "young guys" because Woody is overly loyal to Calhoun, Miller, and Culberson because they are "his boys" and demands they get as many AB's as possible.
