Anthony Davis signed a five-year contract extension through the 2019 season that includes $37.295 million in new money with $17 million in guarantees.

It will be interesting to see what happens to our cap space at 9am. I'm curious to see how or if Davis' extension makes a difference.

@GeorgeAtallah:

Here is the public link to every NFL team’s salary cap figures, per NFLPA calculations http://www.nflplayers.com/cap

That link says we are 4 million cap number

Damn, how does Tampa still have 25mil under the cap if they've made big splashes in free agency the last two years? No wonder they are pushing for Revis, they can afford him financially

No change at 12pm EST. I guess that has Davis' contract updated then. I guess it could all start the following season too.

I believe it was a 5 year extension, starting the 2014 season

Eric Branch:

Agent for #49ers Demarcus Dobbs (ACL) said DT is "well ahead of schedule" in rehab. No word on if he'll be ready for training camp.

Extend Justin or Boldin would do the trick. Or both.

I'm not concerned at all about this year's cap space.

We should be using almost all of it up.

My worry is how close we are to the cap with the draft still looming.

I thought only the top 51 contracts count towards the cap?

So some of the later round rookies, if they sign a cheap rookie contract is it possible they don't even count against the cap?

Plus the 31st pick overall won't get such a huge contract... even the 31st pick overall will probably count ~$1M against the cap for the 1st year.

I think the magic number's like $2.5 mil needed draft money. But it is a moving target because if we don't trade up, and end up trading out for some future picks it could be a lot less. We need the details on the hit from Davis' extension to see where we're really at.

I'm not worried because we have a really good number cruncher to make things work, and we'll have a lot of vets with rookies breathing down their neck with motivation to restructure. Might be able to get Whitner to restructure, but if I were him I wouldn't because I really don't think we can logistically put two rookie safeties out there together.

Per Maiocco's article:

If the 49ers keep their scheduled 13 draft picks, they can be expected to spent approximately $9 million in signing bonuses, according to a league source. That would work out to about $2.25 million in cap space to sign their rookie class.

Were those the cap hit numbers, or signing bonus numbers?

Cutting Marlon Moore and Darcel McBath out of the top 51 would free up $1,260,000 for example.
Chopping Chad Hall and Lamar Divens would free up another $1,110,000.
