I meant learn to trust his teammates at times, in response to Trojan. I wasn't making an argument that his is Kobe.
Gotcha. At the same time, I’m arguing for my premise that you can’t win NBA titles when a volume shooter is your best player. Kobe is a once in a lifetime talent who bucked that trend.

What were Brown and Tatum this season with the Celtics?

How about Golden State? Dallas' ring?
Looks like lots of chamionships with volume shooters as your best player. Most recent ones without a guy named LeBron.

You think Curry is a volume shooting chucker? That dude is arguably the best shooter of all time.

Spiltting very fine hairs there. You just stated volume shooters.
Is it more clear now? I’m rejecting the idea that Brown and Tatum are just volume shooters on the court. They share the ball. They’re plus defenders. They’re great rebounders. To borrow from baseball vernacular they would be considered 4 or 5 tool guys. That’s not Mitchell. Mitchell is just a volume scorer. His defense is mediocre. He’s not much of a playmaker. He isn’t much of a rebounder. He’s a one trick pony. It’s very difficult for a team to win a championship when a guy with that player profile is their best player.

And shoots in volume. You said volume shooter.
Is it more clear now or do you want to play a few more rounds of Semantics?

Sure, you've narrowed it down to saying you can't win a title if your best player is just above average.. Got it.

And the style. If your best player is only really elite at scoring by dominating the team’s shots taken it’s next to impossible to win a title.

There are a bunch of different ways to win a title. MJ and Kobe both had something in common. Obviously they were two way players but they had the greatest coach ever, a system they fit and the perfect role players around them.

It has nothing to do with past champions or style of play if Mitchell will win a title...but it is dependent on a lot of things. As you saw before the Mitchell injury he was the best player on the court vs the champions Celtics. Allen was hurt, Mobley is young and hasn't transformed or will he, Garland was a shell of himself all year. Mitchell is at least an average defender but I would say he is above average (eye test). Garland is not a plus defender, he is a weak defender. They did have anything close to a championship coach and the scheme is still a question mark or work-in-progress and now unknown with a new head coach.

Plenty of guys have played more hero ball (volume shooters) than Mitchell and won a title. If you say he doesn't play defense then you really don't watch the guy play. Undersized, sure to an extent, bc he isn't a wing or big SG, that doesn't mean he can't play defense.

not much of a playmaker or rebounder? Went for 5 rebounds and 6 assists per last year. Been at least 4 of each every season since year 2 and even as a rookie was 3.7 for both. Pretty good for a SG, no?

Hell, even if he wants to say he cannot play D whatever.....thought the biggest flaw in comments was he's not much of a playmaker or rebounder. Went for 6 and 5 last year which is pretty good for a SG. Never been less than 3.7 for each his entire career.

No it’s not. I said what I said “Numbers in a vacuum” guy. Not a rebounder. Not a defender. Not a facilitator.

You can have the last word, homer.

Thanks for the last word but have my doubts you have the self control not to reply (emojis are replies, too)....

First, feel free to list all the SGs who went for 5 and 6 like he did last year....how about the 4 and 4 like he has every year since he was a rookie? The numbers are amassed from his passes on the court that lead to shots and points by teammates, Numbers Ignorer When They Don't Suit You Guy.

and you calling anyone a homer is like Augustus Gloop telling a kid he's obese.....maybe you forgot but when we acquired Mitchell I shared your concern about him. But I'm an adult and saw how he played more than I watched him in Utah and able to admit my concerns were unfounded.

For a combo guard that would put him above average and in the very good range at least.
