So I went ahead and crunched the numbers to find out what our current slate of draft picks could amount to in their first year:

31st pick Doug Martin $1,234,000

34th pick Coby Fleener $971,000

61st pick LaMichael James $603,250

74th overall Donald Stephenson
$549,375

93rd overall Brandon Thompson
$520,300

128th overall Rhett Ellison
$465,146

131st overall Brandon Mosley
$465,146

157th overall Bradie Ewing
$436,048

164th overall Jonathan Massaqoui
$432,215

180th overall Trent Robinson
$417,625

227th overall Rishard Matthews
$403,403

237th overall Cam Johnson
$390,000

246th overall Terrence Frederick
$390,000

252nd overall Daryl Richardson
$401,474

Total:
$7,678,982

I sure as hell hope we don't use all those picks but no wonder we're not very active in FA. We'll be up against the cap just with a few high picks.

I'm still convinced some combo of moves involving Goodwin, Rogers, and/or Whitner will free up some more space.

Plus, if they trade for Revis, they can basically use all the cap room they need to on the rest of the players and give what's left to Revis because there's so much cap room next season. I don't like back-loading contracts, but it wouldn't be the end of the world to give him a huge chunk next year if the Niners need the room this year.

They wouldn't be able to do the same with Abraham because he wouldn't sign long-term.

I believe if we can sign Aso and pick up a 3rd down pass rusher like Abraham with the additions of Dorsey and Dawson I would be mostly happy with our offseason.

Harbaugh calls Harbaugh, Boldin trade ensues | CSN Bay Area

"In the end, we decided to make a couple calls. We knew it wasn't going to work out, as far as changing the contract around. So we were going to lose him. We thought we could work it out in the best interest of both parties."

That's when John Harbaugh decided to make a phone call directly to his younger brother.

"I called him up and said, 'Would you be interested?' He said, 'Heck yeah. I'll go talk to Trent,'" said John Harbaugh, referring to 49ers general manager Trent Baalke.

John Harbaugh made the initial phone call at 3:30 p.m. (ET), and within 30 minutes Baalke and Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome worked out the details.

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 1m

49ers gave K Phil Dawson a one-year, $2.25 million deal, including $1 million signing bonus. Great deal for Niners, not-so-great for Dawson.
