Sean Smith just seems like a buy-high kind of signing. If the Niners did sign him, I wouldn't be upset. I'd just rather they go a different route.

I would assume that if they do sign Smith (or another big FA CB), that means Rogers is gone. The kind of money he's making for a 3rd string CB would be kind of silly.

If he is as good as I think he would be in our defense, then I think we would get a bargain.

If (or when) we do sign a a top FA CB, then I would assume that Rogers will be asked to take a pay cut. If not he would likely be gone but I expect them to hold onto him for one last season. We are kind of in trouble with us losing Brown after next season as well. So I expect us to sign a CB and draft at least one maybe two.

I've decided that I don't really like any of the TE options out there except bringing Walker back. I actually didn't want him back before, but after looking at all the other options, I think Walker is the best one. Give him the cap room Manningham is taking up.

Silva suggests James Casey as a Walker replacement.

What about Celek as Walkers replacement? Any thoughts on that my Brother?

I like Celek my only question is can he be as multifaceted as Walker? He has better hands though and Davis isn't a safety blanket that Celek could be but would that mean Davis would have to block more? Which I wouldn't want. I would rather Draft someone or get a reasonable priced FA and answer those questions in training camp and if Celek proves worthy then we go with him.

My sentiments precisely ~ Well said, Supreme.

Somewhat my concerns, as well. Not that I don't think Celek can do it, just that I don't know if he can. Seems to have decent size so that would be an optimal solution.

Yeah, he is one of the players I am already looking forward to seeing in August.

Yep. I would also like to break our (sort of) recent hx of late round TE's that don't stick. I know Celek was UDFA, but referring to the likes of Bhynam et al.

Yeah, good point - We could use a change of luck at that position, I didn't even think of that.

Niners in CB market?
March, 11, 2013 2:07PM ET
By Tim Kavanagh | ESPN.com

Following the trade agreement in principle sending Alex Smith to the Kansas City Chiefs, the San Francisco 49ers will be armed with 12 draft picks this offseason, and that's before the compensatory ones are awarded (some have estimated the Niners will get another three). So they'll be able to use the draft to find themselves some new key players to continue building towards a championship roster. But that doesn't mean they're going to resist doing some shopping in free agency.

According to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area, the 49ers are looking to make a move on Miami Dolphins CB Sean Smith, provided it's "at the right price." Maiocco's source reveals that the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are also going to be in the bidding for Smith.

The interest in Smith was already present before Monday afternoon, but the need for help in the secondary becomes a little more pressing for San Francisco, as the division rival Seattle Seahawks reached a deal to acquire WR/returner Percy Harvin, and this presents a new challenge for the 49ers on the defensive side of the ball. Adding Smith would certainly help in that regard.

Kyle Bonagura:

While speaking at a Cal High fundraising event Saturday, #49ers coach Jim Harbaugh had a sizeable cut on his foreheard.

To event organizers, Harbaugh said it happened when he fainted walking down the hallway in the middle of the night.

Can't know if this is related to his heart problem (atrial flutter), but I'm starting to get a bit concerned. I know his intensity is a defining trait, but I'd imagine his health could benefit from dialing it back a notch? Just speculation on my part. Could be nothing.

This does concern me...he burns hot and hopefully he doesn't get burned out too soon for the sake of his health. On a big side note, we traded our 6th rounder for Boldin!
