put all these trades on a scale, and I think the scale is pretty near neutral.

Alex Pavlovic mentioned on Giants Talk that Wade Meckler has started fielding grounders at second base

The Giants bullpen has posted a 3.33 ERA (3.70 FIP) in the 2nd half of the year and there has been enough development there this year where it is likely not an urgent area to address this offseason.

FZ was on the radio today being interviewed by Tolbert. Talked about how he knows there's talk of him getting canned or changing roles, he is focused on what the team needs. Said Doval has actual mechanics he needs to fix, will play winter ball (Doval volunteered) to work on it...his slider isn't breaking like before, etc.

But I agree the pen is not the area of need. Need one more ace (Snell or someone else). And need a big bat but not really sure what's out there. In the Brisbee article I posted he listed the difference makers and none of them are available to us (including Soto obviously). Places we could put a bat are 1B, DH, 2B primarily. A big time OF we'd make room for but it would have to be someone really great.

We aren't getting either Soto or Adames, and there are no other "big bats" in FA. It'll have to be a trade or internal growth. I think we will get Kim and shift Fitz to 2b

You’re probably right. Point being 2025 might be another frustrating year without a big bat per the article

Platinum Glove is a fan award. No chance either win. It will probably go to Ohtani.

Massive kings ransom for an aging one-year-wonder.

Granted, I have not watched him play. Maybe he is “real”. And calling him a “on-year-wonder” is a slight over statement. But he has been tossed around the league for a while.

If we were “in the window”, I could see it being feasible. But we are FAR FROM being “in the window”, so I am not certain that is a good idea. Whis and Crazy could be REAL pieces that could help anchor a team for many years. Lucky doesn’t play D, so I am always willing to part with THAT guy, and Black is good, but I don’t see him as anything more that 3 on a good team.

If we don't get Snelk, what about Max Fried, Burnes or Sasaki (if posted)?

Rooker has played for 5 teams in 5 years. He did nothing with MN, KC, or SD, but has hit 30 and 38 HR with the A's. He's been mostly a DH with Oakland, er, Sacramento, er Lost Wages. This seems a heavy price to pay for him. He is arb eligible in 2025 and under team control until 2028. Might be worth a swing, but not at this price. I have hopes for the two pitchers and McCray. The JimmyJacking with Luci is awful. He may prosper with the A's who would allow him to play.

Casey has improved since he was last called up. Maybe if he continues it in spring training we have our backup infielder
Actually, the 2 weeks before he was sent down he was hot as well.

Since 8/14, he is hitting .400/.455/.633/1.088 with 2 HRs in 33 PAs. Very small sample size, but I prefer good small sample sizes to bad small sample sizes. And he was a top prospect at one time, so MAYBE he can still turn into something.
