You’re not wrong. But…That doesn’t address any of what I said above.
It kind of does, doesn't matter what we'd 'rather' pay for these guys, you pay up or you don't get them and I want to be a team that gets them sometimes. It's a risk, sure. No risk-free way for a team in our situation to compete. We have to take chances, the right chances. I think spending big on another ace level pitcher is a risk we have to take. If it's not Snell, fine, just feels like Snell is the one we have the best chance to sign.

I believe 2010-2014 is how we can win titles again...pitching first and second and third. Pitching uber alles. Take the park advantage and our current strength and lean into it even harder.

We still of course need to improve the offense but I want elite pitching over elite hitting.

No risk free way for ANY team to compete, agreed. 100% on board with this approach. Just not sure multi years for Snelk is the way to do it.

Then multi years for Burnes or whoever. If you want a free agent ace, that's how it works.

I knew you'd be down for focusing on pitching though LOL

If we do lock up Snelk for the rest of his career that would be something.

My guess is Canha will be resigned, Ray will opt in, Chappy will be extended, all five Arb guys will be back.

Forto, Snelk and Wilmer will be gone. #forevergiants

Wilmer will opt in, then the Giants will release him.

@msgkings322 , Logan Webb agrees with you on Snell.

As for Yastrzemski, I really hope they bring him back and do NOT bring back Conforto.

These guys know. And I see no reason Yaz won't be back. Conforto probably will not be.

The article points out his age and the likely increase in his 2025 salary through arbitration.
I stand by it, pretty confident he will be

Conforto is what I would classify as “middling”. He isnt bad, and in the right situation can help a team. I just don’t think the Giants are that situation. Yaz, conversely, has a respected spot in the locker room, and the fact that he plays a great OF, imho, makes him a good fit for us. As long as he is OK being essentially the #4 (potentially) OF, and I think he has shown the willingness to be in that kind of rotation.

Anyone interested in Pete Alonso after the season? I’m asking for a friend.

I'm 65% thinking he's back. He's gonna be expensive for a role player.
This is about where I stand. I am probably a bit more “confidant” that will be back, though.

I wouldn’t run around in circles waving my arms if he is no tendered, though. He is getting pretty expensive.
