That’s fine. We have Fitz now and Lucky, Schmitt and Wisely offering depth, with Arteaga, Walker and Level as SUPER young SSs who could develop into something in the next 4 years or so (as well as future drafts).
Don’t forget Ahuna, although his track record is starting to look injury prone

Sure. But my list was not intended to be complete or all inclusive. But I think Arteaga, Walker and Level are probably more highly regarded prospects than Ahuna.

And who listed Fitz on their lists of highly exciting prospects as he was coming up? He was on radars, but nothing that indicated what he is doing this year.

Same with Ramos and Bailey, who had grown ripe on the vine and were overlooked by many (well, myself, at least).

Ramos was high on lists and fell off. I think the expectation on Bailey was great defense but questionable bat. Seems to check the boxes.
I liked Fitzgerald but didn’t see this. He is exceeding even my expectations

Canha has quietly put up 123 OPS+ in his time in SF.

SSS, but I could see resigning him for another year.. 10M?

Webb at 12M is a flat out steal

If BoMel isn't going to use TaRog, we might as well release him or trade him. Why wasn't he used last night instead of Miller?

Because last night was not a playoff game. Miller needs to be in those situations so he knows how to pitch in those situations.

Remember when Boch would treat regular season games like they were really just extended ST games? Yeah, I loved when he did that, too.

Granted. But the refusal to use TayRog is puzzling to me. He hasn't pitched in a week. Perhaps he has some sort of injury but nothing has been posted about that. He has been in 52 games this year, and he has usually been in the 60-65 range for his career. Still puzzling to me.

Fair question to ask. But because we have no idea of the day-to-day goings on in the locker room, I don’t really think it is fair to Monday morning QB every move BoMel makes.

Maybe you weren’t doing that, but I have seen a lot of people calling for BoMel’s head recently, and that just infuriates me (gross overstatement, but anyway).

But to just zoom in on this situation specifically, and assuming Tay is not injured or restricted, you have to give the other arms credit that they can get 3 outs, and holding your higher leverage guy back for the 10th or 11th is not a bad strategy. But again, last night was not a playoff game, so I doubt that level of thought went into it. Miller is a kid who has shown great promise. Put him in a leveraged situation, and if he gets in trouble, give him some rope to try to get out of it. Miller, the person, is more important than last night’s game.

Chap will get extended.
Snelk will opt out
Ray will opt in.
Forto will be gone
Wilmer will be gone
Canha probably resigned
All the arb guys (Yaz, Tyro, LWJ, Tyler, Doval, Austin) will be resigned.

I have:
Ray 25
Chap -- guess will be 20
Taylor 12
Canha 4
Lee 17
Webb 12
Yaz -- guess 10
Wilmer 3.5 buyout
Hicks 12.5
Tyro -- guess 6
Murph 4
LWJ -- guess 6
Tyler -- guess 5
Camilo 2
Warren, Small -- .75 each = 1.5
Bailey, Beck, Walker, Harry, Hjelle, Winn, Miller, Ramos, RanRod -- 1 each = 9
Fitz, Roupp, Bird, Bivens, Matos, Schmitt, Wise -- .6 each = 4.2
Black, Encarnacion, Knapp, Luci, McCray, Meckler, Sabol, VR, Teng -- .4 each = 3.6

Total estimated = 157.3 40 players

nope. We won't be resigning him. He's going to get 5/150 or something silly like that.

If we're going to play at the top of the FA SP market next year, I'd prefer Burnes.

I could also see them going after Fried, Lorenzen, or Means.

We might not do it but we absolutely should

I guess you guys prefer being sort of ok/kinda good every year

Nothing to do with that. It's about allocation of resources. $30-35M for Snelk isn't a smart play.
It absolutely is the right play for this team to compete for championships
