There is no market shrinkage for him. It doesn't matter what teams have signed a full rotation, any team can afford him so all the big teams are going to be in on him. As cal mentioned, the buy in is most likely location and competitiveness. Of course, we don't know what Sasaki wants in a team, so maybe he wants to be "the guy" from the get go. Or he may be like Yamamoto and wants to be on a team with other Japanese players. We don't know because he is very secretive on what he wants.I agree, but we might have had a chance to be turned down earlier with Sasaki thinking we were interested from the get go. Now he knows we might be interested because the market is shrinking and he might be willing to turn us down as soon as we want to set up a meeting. Same result.
