Robert is injury prone and from the little I’ve read…seems to be trending towards bat only. Hard pass unless it’s bargain bin. These are the types of players that FZ signed and it didn’t work. If we get top prospects, I want athletic players or great defense players with power. This is my humble opinion.

You mean like older, slow, weak-hitting, fielding-challenged middle infielders, right?

We know he is an asshole…

He is a lawyer.
Don't know anything about Boras the person but his agency once got me free tickets right behind the plate at an Angels' game. Torii Hunter (shows you how long ago this was) put on a show that day with 3 home runs. Closest I've ever gotten to nice seats at a game by a mile.

Well those were another one, lol. I was more thinking the Soler/Conforto/Haniger types as well

There’s a good chance that the Giants are paying, at worst, market value for Mike Yastrzemski at $9.25M. Perhaps, a tad below market value given what Max Kepler is getting.

Yaz won’t pay for his contract through putting asses in seats, but he will make at least a small dent. I seriously doubt Kepler draws 100 asses all season.

Agreed. When it’s not a big contract (in length or $) and he’s a good clubhouse guy, good to great defense and a solid AB…why do some fans bitch?

One analyst's take on a trade for Robert:

Robert Jr is tough. He is only 27 and has 3 years left on his deal (club options in ‘26 and ‘27) at very reasonable costs. I have a feeling CWS would want a package similar to what his value would have been coming off his 2023 season and not his injury riddled 2024 which means multiple top 100 prospects (or equivalent). They’d likely want Bryce, and I’m not sure you get the deal done without including him. Maybe you can get it done for something like Harrison, Tibbs, Roupp and Matos. But at that point with his injury history I lean no.

I wouldn’t even respond to the email from the Sox asking for that package. That does not move the needle for the Giants in any way.

Are the Giants even considering any other pitcher besides Burnes. I haven’t heard a thing.

And he is now a Yankee.
1/12.5 is a very fair contract, I think. I doubt he would have signed that with us.

But he does look to be VERY close to his “Sell By” date, so I am not losing any sleep over missing out on him.

He had a nice 2nd half to 2024 but his numbers have dropped sharply in just 2 seasons. It seems just as likely that he will get worse as it is that he will rebound.

Interestingly, his durability is being touted. Completely obscures the fact that you don't want him taking 300 ABs a year vs. RHP...he's terrible.

Any Burnes updates? If we land him I feel like we look like a wild card team (assuming the usual required injury luck and so on)
