This is a phuking GREAT move.
1. Gets rid of Meetch and clears a logjam in OF
2. Gets rid of Disco and clears a logjam of #5 SPs.
3. 24/year for Ray is a risk but not a horrific risk. 32/year sent out. Net +8M this year.
4. Good for Meetch, who did well in SEA before
5. Pick up a LHSP

I think it's a good risk to take; we are good with guys recovering from TJ and Ray appears on track to throw in ST. Now, go get Imanaga and trade for Burnes.

Webb/Burnes/Cobb/Ray/Harry....potential Rotation of Doom.

We sign Imanaga and trade for Burnes that is a 6 man rotation

The Giants are supposed to send cash considerations to Seattle so we don't know the final cost but still a really good trade (unless, of course, Haniger bounces back, DeSclafani stays healthy and pitches well and Ray is injured the whole time. Then I reserve the right to grump about this trade).

$3M to the Mariners.

Not significant.

I thought I read $6M, essentially offsetting salaries exchanged. The Giants have money. I don't have a problem with this trade at all. Its risky but the loss is risky as well.

With today’s news, now just hoping on one of Imanaga (1st choice) / Montgomery (only second because I think he’ll be more expensive) and one of Hoskins (1st choice) / Bellinger (see Montgomery above). Hoskins coming cheaper and pushing Wade to the OF is still a good OF defense of Wade/Lee/Yaz.

I'll be happy with just Imanaga. Hoskins is coming back from major injury. Bellinger's salary is going to be really risky considering those 3 years in LA in his recent past. I've not really looked much into Montgomery. He may be worth the signing but, being a Boras client, I'd be concerned about the years on his deal.

As part of the deal, the Giants also sent righty Anthony DeSclafani and $6 million to Seattle to balance the books.

One downside to getting Ray is that it opens a rotation spot for the first 2 to 3 months of the season since Ray probably won't be ready until June (or even July). That makes me think the Giants will sign one free agent starter (at least). Get me Imanaga, FZ!

FZ going after his favorite player again, light hitting middle infield depth. I was going to say the Giants have enough but, with FZ, the Giants never have enough.

Robbie Ray (2021-23): 385.2 IP. .221 BA, 29.5 K%, 7.6 BB%, 1.5 HR/9. 3.31 ERA, 3.94 FIP, 3.50 xFIP

Blake Snell (2021-23): 436.2 IP, .201 BA, 31.5 K%, 12 BB%, 0.9 HR/9. 3.15 ERA, 3.36 FIP, 3.54 xFIP.

One cost Disco and Haniger. The other will cost over $150 million.

I'd be ok with an offseason of Lee, Ray, Imanaga, and Hoskins. Of course, I'd prefer adding Burnes to that.

The Giants may have quietly addressed one of the weakest areas on their roster from the 2023 season - left field. Giants left fielders were last in baseball in wRC+ (70 wRC+) and fWAR (-1.4 fWAR).

Shifting Michael Conforto over to left field and trading Mitch Haniger should result in better production out of the position. Even if Conforto is a replacement-level player in left field, that is an improvement compared to last year's roster. They should still look at ways to upgrade that position but Conforto, at least, gives them insurance.
