First Day of Training Camp 2021

No question that the focus was on the QBs.

With Jarrett Stidham opening training camp on physically unable to perform, the New England Patriots have added a familiar face to the quarterback room. The Patriots claimed Jake Dolegala off waivers from the Green Bay Packers on Wednesday, as NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported.

Only two Patriot QBs were on the field today. Cam started the day with the first string and Mac was playing with backups and also rans.

By mid practice, Mac was with the first string and Cam was watching the 11 on 11 drills.

Cam was expected to hit the field running full tilt and he stumbled. He was 4 of 5 with no defense, then it was 7 on 7 and Cam became the Cam of late 2020 and threw two awful interceptions. The second was so bad by Adrian Phillips that a group of DL standing on the sideline were whinsing and shaking their heads..

During his 7 on 7s Mac missed a couple of passes but Tre Nixon ran a wrong route causing a bad throw. Mac took off after him and instead of chewing his ass, he put his arm around his shoulder and walked back talking to Nixon gave him a positive fist . No one has ever seen a young first year QB ever do that in a Patriot practice.

Then came 11 on 11 and Jones was accurate and with the D coming hit Agholar in the corner of the end zone for TD. Mac threw three today and looks like he's got a good grasp on the offense. Cam has some catching up to do.

Tom Curran and Phil Perry were doing the nightly training camp report and said outright when they mentioned that Jake Dolegala had been resigned that Jarrett Stidham was going to be traded to the Texans. Like it has already been done and just moved on without further comment.
