Seems that teams are interested in both Belt and Bumgarner. But it sounds like Zahidi isn't sure (at least, he hasn't really tipped his hand either way) which way he wants to be - rebuild or recharge. I would guess we'll have a better idea in the next 3 days.

I wouldn't pass judgment on him quite yet. He looked good every year before 2018. Of course, he doesn't seem much different than the quartet we already have in Duggar, Shaw, Slater and Williamson. Plus, all 4 of them have posted better numbers in the big leagues so far. He's depth, but it seems to be a confusing way to build depth, unless the team really plans to go into 2019 with 4 relatively inexperienced outfielders.

Fangraphs lists Gerber with 40/55 game power and 60/60 raw power. That's above average, 25-30 homer range. His hit tool is below average, though, at 40/45. His defense is reportedly very solid as well.

Even if it's in a platoon, could be a solid move.

Rumors are swirling that teams are interested in both Belt and Will Smith (and maybe Tony Watson too). Of course teams are interested in Bumgarner. One rumor was Will Smith to the Cardinals for Jose Martinez. Depending on what the Giants could get on Belt, that seems like a potentially backwards step at 1st base. Similar hitter profiles but Belt is supposed to be the better defensive player.
It will be interesting to see if any of these trades happen in the next three days. If at least one goes down, I'm leaning toward a rebuild for 2019.

The appeal for Martinez is his contract, or lack thereof. He's extremely cheap, but for a team like the Giants that's not all that valuable. I would be disappointed if the Giants traded Will Smith for him. Martinez doesn't really seem like a FZ type of guy anyway.

Sounds like the Giants could embrace the possibility of an "opener" next year.

Sounds like Zaidi's primary concern right now is gathering pitching depth. Not too surprising because A) this team needs it and B) the dodgers always had like 10 starters on their 40-man roster the last few years.

Pretty much how I'd see it, as currently configured, with the exception of Slater over Ferguson.
