The problem I see with this is that it still leaves the Clippers short against a healthy Warriors. If DJ walks and LA walks, you are going with Lebron, CP3 and spare parts.

If the Clips keep Blake, DJ or LA, you're still one star player short of what the Warriors have. Although, you would have a team uniquely set up to attack the Warriors in their weakest spot, the paint and probably still good enough to defend them on the perimeter.
Agree.

But, no matter where he goes next year, he's gonna be short of the Warriors.

Lebron doesn't have more than 3 GREAT Seasons left.

That pretty much means no more titles unless he goes to the Spurs or Warriors.

We'll see.
Boston seems to always be the team in trade discussions, then always the team that doesn't make a move.
It seems like Ainge is looking to always want to be viewed as having won the trade vs improving the team where it would be viewed fair to both sides.
Then, instead of doing that, gives a max to Horford in FA,and apperently will make the same mistake IMO with I.T.

I think they'll trade him.

I completely agree. It's the off season, so speculation and rumors are really all we have at this point. First, the Lakers have to actually get PG-13, which may or may not happen.

Kevin Love was rumored to want to be a Laker to the point that most GM's were saying they weren't even going to pursue him because it was "a done deal." When he went to Cleveland, many thought he would be a 1 year rental. Then he decided that playing for titles was more fun than joining a rebuild.

If a team like the Celtics decides to take a risk and trade for him without an extension in place, it would be a risk But if they get to the finals, he may decide to stick around.

He may also decide that he likes the idea of going to a team that just made the ECF, especially if he feels like he can get that team over the hump, and decide to sign an extension as part of a trade. If either of those things happen, the Lakers will have to go to plan B.

Agree about Lonzo. All signs point to him being the right pick for the Lakers, but he also hasn't played 1 second of NBA basketball yet. So, we have no idea how he will react. Maybe he's the next Magic, maybe he's a bust...maybe he falls somewhere in between? :noidea:

Do you think George plays all next year in Indy? I think any team would be a bit foolish to give up too much to get him as a 1 year rental w/o knowing for sure he'd sign a long term deal. And Lonzo, w/ all the hype surrounding him (thanks to his idiot father) the rookie spotlight might shine a little brighter on him next year than the other rookies. Hope he'll be able to handle it all.

^ This isn't necessarily Boston's or Ainge's fault. Not totally, anyways.

Boston is a big name team, have perhaps the most assets in the NBA, and are in the 2nd tier of teams just behind the 2 or 3 title contenders.

The first question anyone (especially reporters and talking heads) asks in literally any trade scenario is, "Will Boston get in on this?"

Boston can't help that.

I'd further say that the great mass of assets that Boston has collected probably works against them to a certain extent in trade talks... I'd be willing to bet that opposing GM's ask for more than their fair share just because Boston seemingly has so much to give.

I agree. Great CBB doesn't always translate to even average NBA player. It's a different league.

I knew Fredette was going to struggle in the NBA. All he was is a great shooter. But as you've mentioned, once he had someone athletic on him, he struggled mightily. More often than not, you run into athletic defenders in the NBA.

Lies!

From all that I have read.....Ball is unlikely to be a bust.....I don't buy into can't miss prospects often, but he sure seems like one.

Gonna be fun watching Lonzo, Fox, Smith, Fultz * Simmons* Fight it out for ROY.

Lonzo is gonna be a MONSTA.

But, he has to have guys to actually pass it too.

Lopez is gonna be his best target and I think he's gonna have a huge year offensively.

The only can't miss prospect I've seen is Lebron.

Ball, for all intents and purposes seems like he'll be the real deal. My concern for him is his body type (needs to put on good weight) along with his lack of defense.

But as has been mentioned before, there have been other players that have a projected upside similar to Ball's that end up as busts.

That's why Heat fans never really get on Riley too much and we had the arguments with Wiggy regarding draft positioning. High lottery picks don't always pan out. Riley always likes to go with established guys that he feels he can get even more out of that have a more mature attitude (see guys like D. Russell who's now in Brooklyn).

I think next years ROY will be a player from Philly that's been injured & sitting on the bench for a year or 2.

I'll be surprised if PG-13 is in Indy all year. I'll actually be a little surprised if he isn't traded before the season. I can't imagine Indy wants to go through an entire season of him being booed at home. But, they also wouldn't be the first FO we've seen cut off their nose to spite their face.

The only way that bringing him in as a 1 year rental makes any sense is if you are a contending team that doesn't give up much for him. It would make sense for the Cavs because Lebron's title window is closing, so I could see them not caring if he's a 1 year rental.

The Celtics might decide it's worth a shot if they don't have to give up much more than picks for him.

The only other team might be the Spurs, especially if they are serious about unloading LA. Although, getting him as a 1 year rental wouldn't seem very "Spurs-like."
