Why does everyone want us to sign Cano if we did we are going to be in the same boat as the Angel's and not being able to sign any players because we would have three or four player's that take up about a third of our payroll.Fielder,Beltre,Rios,Andrus and Darvish make a bundle and now you want us to add another 25 million dollar a season player no thanks. We are set up the middle for years to come with Andrus and Profar and in a few years we have a few players like Gallo,Alfaro,Guzman and Jackson that will be ready for the big show.

Beltre comes off the book soon, and EA would likely be traded if we signed Cano. The main reason I would want him is because he's the best player available (on the FA market)

So you don't want the best player on the market?

Hat's off to seattle though... I mean they ARE trying. They're pitching staff is gonna be ridiculous in 2-3 years. King, Iwakuma, Walker, Hultzen, and Paxton. Plus they're trying to get all of these FA's, and traded for morse and morales last year.

That's true about their pitchers, but Morales and Morse are FA's.

i understand he is one of the best out there but i don't think they can afford what he is asking for.

The Brewers are interested in Logan Morrison who is a LF/1B. Why in the world would they want a LF when they have Braun?

We could also offer Moreland of course if they're looking for a 1B.

After the Fielder-Kinsler trade JD himself seemed all hyped up and stated that there would be more deals to be made. So all of us on this board had high expectations. JD had to expect that in order to get any tier 1 FAs it was going to cost. I am not saying be idiotic about it but just a few more pieces would sure help.

things moved quickly, earlier than normal it seems at least. Trades always concern me, because of the difficulty that can be involved. Look what happened with Upton last year. JD admitted he was exhausted and just couldn't make a deal. (not the deal he wanted)
of course you have trades that fall into your lap, like Prince (thankfully), but I think that's the exception

Unless he's going to start the season with a rookie in LF, (please no JD) he's got to get an OF at the very least
If nothing comes from FA, then you wonder what he's willing to trade

It would be nice to sign a FA for the OF before heading into the meetings...I am getting nervous heading into the meetings with no OF, it's the anxiety from last offseason.
I expect JD will cure that.

same here,i would only do the deal if there were a 3-5 year extension

I'm with you Romeo These Madden like trades are just crazy wishing.I think we are only going to be able to take on another 15 to 20 million more in salary's and that includes a catcher, a outfielder and another pitcher i'm guessing

I could see us taking on another 25-30 million. The catcher position shouldn't hurt us too much. The majority of that cost well be wrapped up in another bat and pitcher. The Pitching may not even cost as much since he would be a #5.

Guys, I would bet 500 dollars that our offseason is not done, and that we're gonna make moves. I feel like everyone is just overreacting cuz of how big yesterday was. Relax. There are a lot of days ahead, and we haven't even gotten to the winter meetings yet. I mean, if you think about it, this is the very beginning of the offseason. JD will make moves. I assure you of that. Its not over. I'm basing this on conversations I've had AND based on last year's debacle. If you're stressed out about it, dont be stressed about him making a move period. Be stressed about WHICH move he makes

I've never once advocated signing Cano. In general there hasn't been a lot of talk about signing him
