Post season Clase is a reason not to overpay a RO on thr FA market
Would they have made the postseason without him?

And, what constitutes overpaying? Is the going market rate overpaying?

Does a position player who has a bad postseason provide a reason to not overpay a position player in FA?

What if a reliever has a great postseason? Should you then overpay another reliever?

I would like to see something like Scott, Yates, Robertson and Sborz handle the 8th and 9th next season. All capable of pitching the 8th or closing so you have a lot of flexibility and availability to win with a tie or lead after the 7th.

I like that, but give me one more decent guy just in case Sborz is hurt again.

Very surprising. Almost unbelievable with the regular season he had.
In 2022 he was good in the postseason.

If he pitches in several more he may have a whole lot more good outings than bad.

From MLB:

Josh Stephan, RHP, Surprise (TEX No. 25)
This 22-year-old righty leads the AFL in innings (9 2/3) and nearly every one has been splendid. His best outing may have come in relief on Oct. 19, when Stephan logged 3 1/3 scoreless innings, striking out five without a walk. He owns a 1.93 ERA with a 9-2 SO/BB so far this fall.

Max Acosta made this week's Baseball America’s Hotsheet:

5. Max Acosta, SS, Rangers

  • Team: Surprise Saguaros
  • Age: 21
  • Why He’s Here: .400/.438/.733 (6-for-15) 3 R, 2 2B, 1 HR, 7 RBIs, 1 BB, 2 SO, 3 SB
The Scoop: Acosta’s job in the AFL is to make the Rangers have a tough call on whether to add him to the 40-man roster or leave him exposed in the Rule 5 draft. The 21-year-old made very positive strides at Double-A Frisco this season, and after a slow start, he’s showing some of the same up-arrow trends in the AFL. He struck out way too much in his first week in Arizona, but this week saw him putting together better at-bats, much like he showed at Frisco.

Just before Acosta on the Hotsheet, BA named former Rangers prospect, Thomas Saggese.

it happens nothing we can do to go back and change it; all we can do is continue to move forward

Oh, it's not about that. I just like to keep up with how the guys i have followed are doing. I still check up on Chase DeLauter and Termarr Johnson even though we didn't draft them. Walker Jenkins too.

MLB is testing a check swing challenge system in the AFL.

checked_swing_replay_billmitchell.jpg

From Baseball America:

In the second inning, Mets prospect Drew Gilbert took a half-swing at a 3-1 pitch from Salt River starter Dylan Ray. Catcher Antonio Gomez appealed to third base umpire Darius Ghani, who ruled that Gilbert had swung.

Gilbert then countered by tapping his helmet, indicating he wanted to initiate the first-ever automated review of a checked-swing. After a few seconds, the video board showed an animation of Gilbert’s swing path and determined that Ghani’s call was incorrect: Gilbert had not swung, and the pitch should instead be ruled ball four.

Gilbert trotted to first and the first checked-swing challenge was in the books.

I hope we have a quick World Series so we can get on to the Hot Stove season.

will it make a difference how quickly it goes? November 2 through November 7 is set in stone, which is the quiet time when teams can talk to their free agents but no one else
Yes, it matters. The 5 day window starts the day after the WS is over.
