Not losing Rios is not the end of the world. But you better find a way to get 2 SP's this offseason. Frankly, I don't really know how you do it without trading EA or Profar

We're not getting anything for EA.

Problem with trying to push rios through waivers is getting any kind of return. I wish they could've at least gotten MORP. Maybe we still can.

I dont think you do that at this point. I think you hold on to him. Anything you get for him after the deadline isnt worth it.

Most likely, no. I was hoping they'd deal him for some kind of #3-#4 pitcher and sign Melky. Wonder if we might be able to get Napoli to DH for us next year.

I also can't figure the Cards trading Kelly and Craig for Lackey...I understand Craig is having a down year and Kelly has been inconsistent, but this was a great trade for the Bosox IMO...not so much for the Cards...

Not trading Rios was a mistake, I wonder what the best legit offer for him was...

I was hoping they would be able to do something not that I have anything against Rios but if we could have improved our club with additional pitching prospects that would have been nice.

Is anyone else surprised by how little the Rays got in return for Price? They got a young Major League pitcher and a nice prospect, but it seems like a light haul to me. Bad timing for the Rangers to have a downer year, I certainly think they could have topped that offer if they were buying

I'm snide and pompous according to Bennie. He's right! Doesn't make me wrong about him being an idiot when it comes to baseball.

Franklin (2B/SS), Smyly (LHP) and Adames (SS) is what they got

Adames is supposedly pretty good but he's only in A ball

And yes that's a pretty light haul to me

Might have been the biggest ??? of the day. My coworkers in Tampa are pissed! And judging from what my buddy Moose on here tells us, they are being roasted on the sports talk stations and in the Tribune paper.

A serious head scratcher right there.

I wonder how that would have compared to what they could have gotten from the Rangers last year if they had said he was really for sale. I think they could have gotten the Teixeira deal from the Rangers in reverse

For all the hype they really didn't get what they hoped. I guess when you make it clear that you are trading him you get less of a return. It's not the worst trade ever, but you really hope to get more than that if you are the Rays. This whole GM thing is hard though isn't it?

I hate that POS Lackey and wouldn't have given near what the Cards did for him but maybe that makes them better?

We might end up extending cotts now and I'm okay with that.

I would be ok with that as well, we obviously need bullpen pieces for next year. Healthy arms are apparently really hard to come by for the Rangers

I thought some of us might, but I couldn't bring myself to endure that much suffering

They wouldn't last very long here. They get really butthurt when you insult their lack of intelligence. Bennie's logic is to sign every FA that can hit. He wanted JD to sign Napoli, Cruz, Abreu, and McCann. He's honestly not worth arguing with over baseball.
