I've decided that my 3 favorite teams for Rios that I think we match up the best with are Balt (nelly would have to move so maybe not) Pittsburgh, and KC (even though reports say they arent a good fit)

Pirates have so many good prospects that it would be tough NOT to get a good one from them. KC's got Zimmer and Manaea, and Balt's got Harvey, Bundy, Gaus, and many more.

If I'm JD, I'm getting a deal going with the pirates. There are so many acceptable players that they have...
That would be my best guess, Terps. I'm hearing KC doesn't want to take on money and Balt. wants relief pitching (maybe Cotts). Probably won't happen till Thursday, I suppose.

Agreed. Nothing probably happens till the deadline.

Send em Cotts and Rios together for something then. They love our former players, and usually get quite a bit out of them. I'm ok with Balt taking the East, running away with it. I'm ok with Balt and Cruz et al getting rings even. They may be the team I pull for, now that I think about it.

No idea what to even ask for in return. Could we get any solid OF prospect for them? Someone about a year away? Can't shake the idea that we are lacking solid replacement bats in our OF in the minors.

I think that for Rios you either get a very good pitching prospect, a very good OF prospect, or a lesser combination of the 2

I would agree, but not up to speed on what the market looks like or what the returns have been so far.

So out of the loop this year, probably best with the way the season is going.

We had a great run at things, but that doesnt mean we did so without bad luck. 2010 probably was a bit lucky pitching rotation wise, but besides that we were just flat out playing good baseball with a damn good team.

Yeah....we all got a little spoiled in 2010 and thought, "Gzee, it's near as hard as we thought." When in reality, it's beyond rare to go through a season and not lose a starter for an extended period, if not the season. And normally, it's more than one.

Pitching is just tough on the arm, shoulder and back.

I'm throwing - personally throwing - JD in the Trinity River bottoms if all he can get for both Rios and Cotts is one OF prospect.

He got a potential starter for next season for Frasor alone. Got a stout reliever and a good "potential" starter - probably 2 years away, maybe more - for Soria.

I trust in JD, pretty much anyway.

You mean a potential bullpen piece for next year...right?

Have I got this backwards? I thought Patton was a strong contender for a starter position for next season. Not true?

And the two guys we got for Soria, the guy from U of TX is suppose to be major league ready for middle relief pretty much now, and the other one - Campbell I think - is about 2 years away from starting.

So help me out.

FIFY

And no, the guy we got for Frasor is a guy that people think his ceiling could be top 25 RP in baseball. Might be one of the better 8th inning guys in the gamel

Patton (acquired for Frasor) is a bullpen arm - albeit a fairly decent one. Is 3rd in saves in the PCL.

Thompson (the kid from TX - acquired for Soria) - is a starter candidate...but a year or so away. Middle of the rotation type.

Knebel (acquired for Soria) - bullpen candidate with starter potential.

Wow....thanks.....don't know why I was thinking he was a potential starter. But we'll take him none-the-less.

And thanks to you too Terps.

In the least surprising news of the day...

Yeah Lester has already said he won't consider signing an extension wherever he goes and hopes at the end of the year he can re-sign with Boston. I got no interest in him

what a fucking ambiguous thing to say. "doesn't appear the rangers will be in on lester." I mean, I know its obvious and all, but for a guy that's around that stuff every single day and is paid to do so, can he not find a way to be certain about it or just not say anything at all?

gosh...go figure your lack of interest.

Any team who gives up much to get this guy deserves NOT to win the WS. And that's the only reason anyone would trade for him under any other circumstances.

Pretty awkward situation he's put the Red Sox/himself and any potential trade partners in IMO.

Dodgers will likely rent him regardless, they are dead set on buying a Wold Championship
